How do I repair casement window that doesn’t close properly?

So one of my casement window does not fully close. First three pictures showing where the door’s mechanism has broken and came off of its groove (pardon the dust). The fourth picture is of a working window that closes properly.

A friend of mine said if I can figure out the part number, and buy it, he will try to replace it. I got a number shown in the last picture. Is there a way to repair it?

The window is otherwise in good condition.

Thanks in advance.

Lounge Access Waitlist

Got to the JFK and wanted to grab a quick bite. And you see a waitlist that’s more than 30 mins. Go figure.

Window Replacement in Jersey

Looking for feedback and ideas.

I have 40+ year old windows (casement) that need to be replaced. Apart from that, I’m also looking to replace front door and patio sliding door. Front door leaks heat during winter and long overdue. Current windows are made of wood.

I went to HomeDepot and checked out Anderson windows. Their fiberglass offering looks good. Spoke to installer there and he’s open to do this job as an independent contractor. He quoted me $5800 just for labor. It includes: removal & installing two new windows, patio door, font door, repair of frame of three existing single windows (wood rot), capping all windows (about 7) with aluminum to prevent rot. I have to buy the windows and doors myself and place an order at HD.

The guy came as a referral and has done jobs at friends.

Questions:
\- Does this sound like a reasonable estimate for labor?
\- Warranty in this case will be via manufacturer. I was told that if there are issues, Anderson send their repair folks onsite. If there are issues with labor, the guy will fix them to my satisfaction. And if we ever need to take the window out, need to hire someone. I’m thinking if the labor cost is reasonable enough then this route will work. Thoughts?
\- I thought of getting estimates from other window installers in the area. Not sure who yet.
\- In 2026, what are the best window types in terms of materials that are worth the cost? We will be living here for the foreseeable future.

Thanks in advance!
