Went in for BdC Parfum, walked out with AHSE. I debated with myself for a long time. I have Superleggera, but it’s quite a bit different than AHS and AHSE.
BdC Parfum is great, but it’s too similar to L’Ex to justify owning both, and EDP was my go-to for many years, but it just doesn’t hit the same for me even though I’ll always consider it one of the goats.

What are two seemingly unrelated scents (excluding intentional dupes) that share similar accords or feel very similar to you?
Yesterday I tried Glossier’s You Soie at Sephora and was immediately transported to DS&Durga’s Steamed Rainbow. I don’t think Glossier is copying DSD’s homework, and it’s not a 1:1 but they smell incredibly similar and it blew my mind because on paper, they have different notes. Can anyone check me?
It got me thinking there must be more and I’m interested to hear from you: What fragrances have you tried that immediately called you back to something you already own or have tried in the past?

I keep Polo Red Parfum in my car for days when my morning frag has faded and need a pick me up while running errands. If you haven’t tried it, this stuff is amazing. Get you a bottle ASAP.
I also keep a few random decants: Virgin Island Water, Le Sel, Paradigm EDP, Blue Talisman, etc. you never know when you’ll need to spray something on.
My latest pickup and one of the more unique frags in my collection, and one that I truly wear for myself.
To me this is a summer-only fragrance: and one that is easier to describe in terms of memories and feelings than notes and accords. Humidity, plastic, rubber, greens…it’s nostalgic and comforting with a splash of melancholy. 10/10.
I am Dossier’s biggest hater. Something about their scents feels so sinister — I didn’t know I could get uncanny valley, fight or flight stress signals from perfume but here we are. I love a good dupe but Dossier pisses me off.
Also, when Emma from Perfumerism started doing paid content hyping them up and saying “it smells exactly like the original” when there is a zero percent chance she willingly wears anything from them made her lose all credibility.
Just moved and got new shelves so I thought I’d share my new setup.
I really need to stop, but there are a few more I want.
- Chanel Allure: no idea which one. Extreme? Blanch? Superleggera? Where do you all try them? Are they all out at the Chanel store?
- Something avant-gard (sp) like DS&Durga Steamed Rainbow.
- I have no Amouage or Pengallington’s. What other houses am I missing?
- Polo Blue Parfum on the way from Joma. Got a crazy steal a couple weeks ago.
- Out of frame: a bunch of Montagne’s. I wish I had discovered them sooner. Some are absolute BANGERS. The only clone house I mess with a few exceptions.
- Also out of frame: some bangers I don’t have the space for at the moment as we move into summer: Black Orchid, Boss Absolu, Spicebomb Infrared, etc.
I found West Loop a week ago today but have still been on the hunt for South Slope. I couldn’t call her fast enough to ask her to pick it up for me.
