Hey everyone, I’m stuck on a weird water pressure issue with my GE Refrigerator (Model: GYE22GYNFS).
The Problem: The water dispenser pressure is extremely low (a slow trickle). However, as soon as I install the bypass plug, the pressure is 100% perfect.
What I’ve already tried:
- New Filters: I have tried two brand-new genuine GE RPWFE filters to rule out a "dud" filter. Same issue with both.
- Input Pressure: Checked the house line coming into the fridge; pressure is strong.
- Defrosting: Did a full manual defrost for 24 hours to ensure there was no ice buildup in the reservoir or lines.
- Visual Inspection: I’ve looked at the filter head/manifold (see attached photos), and I don't see any obvious cracks or debris.
It seems like the internal valves in the manifold assembly aren't being fully engaged by the filter, even though the bypass plug manages to open them. I'm leaning toward replacing the Water Filter Head and Tube Assembly (Part #WR17X30702).
My Questions:
- Has anyone seen this "bypass works, filter doesn't" issue specifically on these GE models?
- Does anyone have a guide or tips on replacing this specific assembly? It looks like the lines run through the back of the cabinet, and I want to make sure I don't snag anything pulling the old ones out.
Thanks in advance for the help!
