Help get me out of my gaming funk?

Former RPG lover here, and in theory I'm still an RPG lover, but I just haven't had a game really grip me in a long time, maybe I'm too old? Last game I enjoyed was Octopath 2, but even that game I felt the story was weak.

If anyone has a good rec that combines "not overly complex to play" and "has a compelling story", please hit me up. RPG, action-adventure, etc. Thanks!

I need a game to get me out of my 40 y/o gaming funk

I used to loved classic RPG's... in theory I still DO love RPG's... but they just don't hit the way they used too. I've even tried going retro with the Suikoden remakes and such, meh. Octopath 2 was the last game I really enjoyed.

Can anyone recommend me a banger?
