My father passed away due to heart disease. He went apparently peaceful in his sleep. They say it was a quick thing.

His funeral is this weekend in Calgary.

I'm the only one who lives here and in trying to make it there for this weekend.

I unfortunately don't have a way to get there because I dont get anything till the 15th when my next check is.

I do have a car but just can't get there.

I'm wondering if lethbridge maybe offers any type of services that help with this sort of thing. Kinda like we will get you there, pay later type of thing.

I know that may be unlikely but I have to ask because maybe there is and if I didn't ask if feel bad if there was something and I ended up missing his funeral

Its on Sunday from 12-3. I do have a place to stay and such when I get there, if I can get there. So that and everything else is no worry.

Or maybe someones headed that way and back this weekend?

I'm wondering if anyone might know of something I can do.

So my son and my daughter both have birthdays super close to each other. A two day difference.

I unfortunately do not have the money right now to celebrate them. I'm in calgary and couldn't post on that subreddit. I've posted on the airdrie one and got a couple suggestions and one guy said he could help with 2 calaway park passes but we were hoping to find something this weekend to do because one kids birthday is today and the other is saturday.

They both really want to do calaway park but I told them after just having had to move and pay deposit on a new place and also with my mom passing away and having to help pay into her creamation I just can't do it right now. I can't get the admission and the gas to get there.

We've had things pretty rough for us the last little bit with a few things out of my control so im hoping maybe someone might have ideas for me and anything maybe I can do for my kids this weekend that doesn't cost anything?

We are in calgary not airdrie nor red deer i tried posting in that page but it wouldn't let me. But I'm hoping maybe someone knows some things about calgary?

I'm making a post here because I've seen it before and hoping maybe I might be able to get some help :)

Tomorrow is my boys birthday!!!

I've just started working a new job and don't get my first check until the week after next. I got hired at a weird time so I will have worked 3 weeks before I see my first pay.

Anyhow! I tried all week trying to see if maybe friends or what family I do have could help but unfortunately they can't :(

I'm really unsure how you can help but my son loves anything roblox, minecraft, or Mario.

His favorite food is your typical boy food at that age which consists of nuggets and cheese pizza lol.

He loves anything chocolate as well so maybe if someone has a chocolate cake mix and a foil pan I could possibly use?

He also is a thrill seeker loves climbing, speed,cars and rides. He wants to go to the stampede this year which is an absolute no because it's way too expensive for anyone these days.

Reaching out is super hard for me because I usually can figure things out. My son and I and his sister have had a rough year so far alot had happened and were trying to play catch up. Slowly but surely things are coming together and I'm so happy I finally found a job. And its a job I like after searching for 4 months.

I understand that yes a birthday comes once a year and I should have prepared for it well in advance but alot had happened thats out of my control and having a roof over our heads was more important at the time.

Now I don't expect people to help but I've seen people post in the past and had some offers of different types of things. We don't drive right. now because i just can't afford gas until i get paid but, if you're close we can walk or take transit as I have a few tickets to use.

I did post this in a free group on Facebook and had a couple people comment to message but haven't had them message back. So I thought maybe I'd post here and see if anyone has anything they're not using that my son might like. I wish I could take him and my daughter out to do something but I wanted to at least try to make a post to see if maybe they had something like a boxed cake or toys they're not using!

I did make posts on some groups on Facebook with no responses yet so maybe if someone is on this page but actually living in calgary maybe they'll be able to help.

And I know reddit isn't the best place to post this kind of thing but with none of the posts being commented on, on facebook I figured I could try.

My EI is done and has been for a bit and I did find temp work for a week and got paid from that two weeks ago. Ever since I've been trying to find work.

I have an interview tomorrow for an actual full-time job but I'm super desperate right now to get some food in the house there's 4 of us which includes my children.

I do have a food bank appointment for next Tuesday. Not this week but its far away. I've also tried the pantrys in my area and there's nothing there. I unfortunately don't drive but if it's close I can get there. I'm in temple.

I'm posting anonymously because this is so embarrassing and I didn't want to even post but its at that point now that I have to ask for help.

Also even if you cannot help do you know of places that might be hiring? I've sent out so many resumes and I know I have an interview tomorrow, but that doesn't guarantee me a job. So I need some leads if you have any.

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I need to get a bus pass badly! For the past couple weeks I've been walking everywhere. And since I've started working I've walked nearly 2 hours each way.

Now the problem is my oldest child is having to watch my younger kids until I get home each day. She picks them up as well. And this is because I'm having to walk and not getting home at a decent time. And shes almost 18 so shes able to do it. But she was having a conversation with me and there's things that she wants to during those times and I respect that.

So because I'm on an extremely tight budget and I dont get paid from work till the 25th I cannot affoesbit right now.

I was looking it up and the monthly pass is $75. But if I qualify I can get a cheaper pass for $35. However when I look at the incomes they accept to get this cheaper pass, I dont qualify for it. And when it comes to taxes, they seem to go off of taxes as well which are from last year. And because I was common law and we both made more than what I do now I also dont believe id qualify for the low income.

So with that being said, is there possibly any other programs or something along that nature that can help?

I was told to contact Alberta Supports. Which I have done but the man I spoke to said that they couldn't help me? He asked youre basic questions around income and situation etc. And then he just simply after told me no they couldn't help without explaining. And directed me to the red deer low income bus pass which I looked into.

So I'm not too sure where else to turn in this situation now.

If anyone knows something else that I haven't tried can you please comment what you know so I can make some phone calls or walk somewhere that could help?

Hello so I made a post on Facebook with one answer and someone suggested I make an account here to ask because lots of people are always on here and might know.

I am in desperate need of a few simple food items until my EI finally comes in on Tuesday.

Were in need of milk, bread, eggs and cereal.

I've already accessed the food bank here over a week ago and that didn't last, especially having myself and 2 kiddos to feed. I'm just looking to see if there is anything in airdrie that I can go to on the weekend for these things?
