POV video inside the old Save-On-Foods shortly before closing

When I was younger, I shot this video on my phone of the original Save-On before it closed. This was almost a decade ago. I thought about it today after seeing that post about the building being torn down soon. Anyone remember when they used to serve samples/lemonade by the washrooms?

Referendum workers needed

Just a heads up that elections alberta is hiring election workers for the October referendum.

They need 60,000 people, and only 30,000 have applied so far. For those that are looking to help with the process, need a temp position, or would like to earn a little bit of money from your normal job, now is the time to apply.

Criminal Justice Graduates of Lethbridge . What’s the best course of action?

I graduated from a Criminal Justice diploma program in April 2025 with the ambition of becoming a police officer. At the time, I wasn’t entirely sure which agency I wanted to pursue, and I was told by many people that police agencies value life experience and often look for applicants who are a little older and have some life experience under their belt.

After graduating, I decided to build that experience. I got my security license and started working a security job over the summer. Luckily, I was eventually able to get on with hospital security, which I had been told was valuable experience for policing because of the exposure to de-escalation, dealing with people experiencing mental health crises, making arrests, responding to calls, and handling stressful situations.

After working there for a while, I decided to apply to the RCMP in November 2025. I made it through all the stages of the application and was even told by the officers conducting my interviews and polygraph that I was a strong applicant and had the experience and qualities they were looking for to make it to Depot.

Then came the psychological assessment.

I felt like it went fairly well, but yesterday I received a three-year deferral. I wasn’t given a specific reason for the deferral, which obviously made it even harder to process.

I posted about my situation on r/AskLE and received a lot of genuinely helpful advice. A lot of people encouraged me to apply to municipal agencies rather than letting this setback stop me from pursuing policing.

I’m absolutely devastated because I genuinely thought I was in. I felt like I had worked hard, built the experience I was told I needed, made it through every other stage, and was right there. Having someone put a three-year blocker between me and something I’ve worked toward for years really sucks.

I know I’m not the first person to be deferred, and I definitely won’t be the last. I’m trying to look at this as a setback rather than the end of the road.

For those of you who graduated from a Criminal Justice program, were deferred, and still wanted to pursue policing: what did you do afterward? Did you apply to municipal agencies, continue building experience, or take a different route?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been in a similar position and eventually made it into policing.

I should mention I’m 24 years old, worked other industries working with people.

Getting from Edmonton to Lethbridge - FlixBus?

I did a brief search of the sub but don't see any recent results, so hopefully I'm not rehashing the same topic someone else brought up lately!

I'm heading home to Lethbridge to spend Christmas with my mum this year, but now that WestJet is no longer servicing the Lethbridge airport and my mum can't do highway driving, I'm short on travel options. Renting a car is my least preferred option but will be the answer if other options don't work out.

Since I'll be in Edmonton beforehand, I am considering a bus transit option to get from Edmonton to Lethbridge sometime in the week leading up to Christmas.

Google suggested FlixBus - is this the only option, or are there others I should look into? Has anyone used FlixBus either recently or in the winter who could let me know what to expect?

Lethbridge looks pretty nice 🤙

I recently moved here and it looks pretty in a lot of the spots. I didnt see any homeless or dangerous looking people during my walk which is also really cool. There was a nice skate park.

Very impressed with the quality of the location so far ☺️

Bags of Ambrosia apples marked as 5 pounds. On the scale, not a single bag was over 4.4 pounds. And the scale itself showed about 1.1 pounds for my 1 pound weight.

What to do here?

I’m in Lethbridge for a few days for work and I’m trying to make the most of my time here. It’s not as bad as people say it is. Need some ideas so I don’t die of boredom.

What store was it????

Does anyone remember the sports / shoe store that was in the same strip mall as the Shoppers on Mayor Magrath? It had yellow paint on the exterior and was maybe where Atmosphere was / where the big and tall store is? Maybe there never was one there but I swear I vaguely remember it from when I was younger.

How to find friends / a community

I’m moving to Lethbridge at the end of the month for school. I’m 22 m and I’m transferring into the U of L from Mount Royal University in Calgary. I was born and raised in Toronto so big city life is what I’m used to. I went to Lethbridge for the first time the other day to walk through campus, stroll around the city, and check out some rooms to rent

It’s very small compared to what I’m used to but it’s still kinda cool. You guys have a sick ass train bridge and a nice river valley with a bunch of hills by the river. I also saw a rattlesnake when I was walking which scared me a bit

Anywaysssss, I’m just wondering where and how do y’all find friends or a community of people. I know nothing about Lethbridge or the U of L, like the second time I’ll be there is in two weeks when I move down. I like to think I’m pretty extroverted and I can talk about almost anything to anyone, but that might be hard, because I tried looking for clubs on the student union’s website but literally nothing showed up 😭

I’m confident I’ll be able to make friends in my classes but I wouldn’t mind meeting some like-minded people too. Where are the hangout spots / bars / places? Is there anything to do on campus? How about on the West Side? That’s where I’m gonna be renting. Is it a decent area? I’m bi and stuff too so it would be chill to find other guys and gals like that to hangout with but obviously not a dealbreakerrrrr

Thanks guys 🙏

Separatist Float in Picture Butte Parade

Took the family to the Picture Butte Parade today. I cannot believe they had a Separatist float in the parade. Thought Picture Butte would be above this. Fuck that town.

Home insurance

Hello! Are there any residents of Raymond who have home insurance through Surex? I'm currently with Aviva through Surex (for a house in Lethbridge), but they tell me they can't give me a quote because Surex doesn't cover Raymond... 🤔

I contacted Ridge Insurance, who told me to contact Surex to stay with Aviva.... 🥲

Employment lawyer

Looking for a good employment lawyer.

I quit this week and gave my two weeks notice and my manager decided to walk me out due to privacy reasons (I work in a bank and going to another financial institution)

My last day, given that I gave two weeks notice should have been the last week of August, but she decided to report it on HR saying my last date of employment was on the date I handed her my letter. Because of this, my group insurance was cancelled, and I won’t be paid for that two weeks notice that I’ve handed in. If i wasn’t gonna go to another FI, I would have worked that two weeks, but because I am, they decided to just walk me out.

I have already submitted a complaint with AB employment standards, but I also wanted to reach out with an employment lawyer because I think I have a case here. Thoughts?

Also, recommendations with the lawyer, please 🙏

Looking to transition out of FIFO/camp work — warehouse, parts, and equipment background. Any leads in Lethbridge?

Hey everyone,
I am currently working a fly-in, fly-out camp warehouse job up north, but I’ve decided the FIFO lifestyle isn't for me long-term and I’m looking to transition back to local work in the Lethbridge area.
I have a solid background across warehousing, parts counter service, hydraulic hose assembly, equipment operation, and concrete/construction labor. While my recent background is in logistics and parts, I’m open to exploring other industries or hands-on roles as well—mainly looking for good team environments and competitive, livable pay where I can build long-term skills. (I've checked City of Lethbridge postings, but openings seem fairly limited right now).

Warehouse Technician (Camp/Industrial): Counterbalance forklift, reach truck, and electric pallet jack operation; picking/put-aways, staging, and site logistics.
Junior Parts Technician (Ag Dealership): Front counter technical sales, POS/invoicing (HPS software), 2-month solo inventory audit, and independent hydraulic hose assembly (crimping, fittings).
Construction Labourer (Concrete/Ag): Concrete forming/pouring/finishing for ag feed bunks, skid steer operation, service truck with gooseneck trailer hauling, and 10–14 hour shifts.
Tickets & Certifications:
Forklift & Reach Truck experience
CSTS, WHMIS(kearl site specific),TDG(kearl site specific), H2S Alive, Standard First Aid & CPR Level C, Propane Filling Ticket
If your workplace is looking for someone dependable, or if you know of any local companies, distributors, shops, or yards actively hiring, I’d really appreciate any leads or recommendations. Feel free to drop a comment or shoot me a DM. Thanks!
