Crater Lake

Amazing blue view. These pictures barely touch the surface of this blue lake. Entered the park from the east entrance and the sign for the park was missing. I think it’s being updated. The hotel is reminding me of paradise at Rainer. Definitely need more time to explore the rim trails and figure out the best month to visit.

Crater of the Moon

Had a great time. The landscape is very different. Needed a permit to walk into the lava tubes but was very easy to get. Had a few other trails but unable to hike due to time. That day was very windy. Wind gusting up to 40 to 50 mph. It’s worth the stop.

At the Tetons

Ran into our first black bear walking south landing trail. Then another breaking into a log for some munchies. After that, on our way to the overcrowded Jenny lake, other hikers advised us of a grizzly over the ridge walking towards the cascades from a near by pull off. This park is amazing but I was walking with bear spray in hand for the first time. Leaving the area we saw the Moose. That was the first and a enjoyable view from our car. Love the Tetons !!

Yellowstone NP

Had a wonderful stay in Yellowstone at Grant village. Stayed for a few days. I entered on the east side of the park (from Cody). Snow caps and beautiful lake views. Got to the grand prismatic overlook early morning. The color was not in full force but the mosquitos were. Saw an elk baby (elk number 47) that was born the day before I arrived. One bull elk , two black bears, a marmot and plenty of bison. I Walked the south rim trial ( It’s an amazing trail. ) and a few others. I stopped near Haden valley for a long lunch.

Badlands

The Badlands park is great. I had time for a few hikes and went to the window. The bison was a big surprise and the prong horns too. Looking forward to spending more time at this park.

What you looking at

Such a beautiful creature and so silent in flight. I drove by it slowly and needed a double take as it did not move while it was perched on an old locust fence post. I turned around in the nearest driveway and as I approached it again it took flight to this power pole. It’s so cool watching its head turn. It made my week.
