Alt-Country females have the best country music
Is it just me, or do females making country music have the best music in the past 10 years? I mean, I love Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers, but they're at the very top and not so representative of what's going on. I'm regularly listening to Hannah Juanita, Sierra Ferrell, Abbey Webster, and Margo Cilker. ..And of course in Bluegrass is Sierra Hull. All of these artists for me personally are like 100 times better than that little short guy who walks around with sunglasses bragging about how he used to be homeless and he's like Willie Nelson....
Does anyone else feel like as far as well written songs that females are pretty much dominating like 80%+ of the songs?
When The Pin Hits The Shell-Drive By Truckers

Willi Carlisle - Critterland LIVE
"This song was borne out of trying and failing to live on an intentional community in Stone County, Arkansas, a gorgeous place. At its simplest, it’s bucolic: the power of love is the power of nature, is the remedy of the granny-witch and the herbalist, the song of the sparrow and the pouch of the opossum." - WC
Americana Album Of The Year!
This album is special. Best Americana album of the year, so far. Punchy, I've been waiting/hoping for JR to make this album - he just had to get out of Nashville and play with musicians that had never heard his music. The last song is a cover of Dire Straits, otherwise known as the best Dire Straits cover ever…
Blue Mountain “Jimmy Carter”
In advance of tomorrow’s U.S. semiquincentennial, here’s a look back at Cary Hudson’s young recollection of the bicentennial summer a half-century ago. As mentioned in the sub recently, this is one of many great tracks on a seminal alt.country (whatever that is) album

This is one of many awesome tunes off Brooklyn Side. This almost feels grunge before grunge took over. Killer song regardless.
inertia> - sobriety and the end times
Heya! I just released my album debut and felt like it would be appreciated here :) think “moody alt rock played on folk instruments”.
Guitars, bass, banjo, mandolin, organ, tenor saxophone, harmonica, melodica, accordion, percussion, tape manipulation, vocals and production/engineering all done by yours truly
Enjoy!
