If I do speech with a friend, should I lie about what I think with their ranking?

I'll get straight to the point, I have a friend who does interp (HI + POI) and they are pretty good, I don't see anything wrong with how they do it. However, in my league there are some absolute BEASTS who are so good it's insane. So, I like to stay real and tell them they are good (because I mean it) but to keep in mind that when competing, the people who always get top 3 might hinder their abilities to get it?

Book idea

Hi! I have thought about trying to plan out a book about a magic school that’s new. I had an idea but I don’t know if it would be too boring or not. Basically, everyone in the world has powers but a small percentage actually have enough to use them for something, other times people see just strange coincidences because of random powers that they don’t believe in. However, you have your most potential as a teenager (15-16). So, a girl named Amber lives in NYC and finds one of the administrators in her living room asking her to come to the school. The first year you are trying to figure out your power as there are about 5-6 main ones you could have and you focus on. However, at the end of your first year the administrators post a list of who goes to the advanced classes where they are more powerful than the rest and could potentially have more than one main power. It would mainly be world building and more focusing on school than many other books. Please lmk! Also if there are any tropes that people LOVE/want to see or hate I would of course want to include them or not to be unique! I can give more details.
