do you think individuals who identify as trans should be able to undergo sexually affirming surgery as a minor? (given its physically safe and they'll grow fine)
this is also assuming its causing them mental distress

feel free to specify a spesific age or range in the comments ik the first one is a big range
not a current undegrad theres limited information i could find about it online but when i toured the tour guide mentioned it and i didnt get the chance to ask more questions so im wondering how that works and how one is accepted to that program?
we will ALL be getting in this friday
Im so fortunate to be making this decision but genuinely might be one of the most difficult ones of my life so id really appreciate some input!
UCB
Pros
- Stronger academic reputation for grad school
- Extensive access to faculty-led research within my major
- Because my major is relatively small and newer, there’s more room to pursue independent research and secure funding
- Smaller department means a more tight-knit, supportive academic community
- Semester system, which I find more manageable and better paced
- Could add an extra semester for study abroad without sacrificing time on campus
- Opportunity to start fresh socially since I don’t already have an established reputation there
- Access to running trails and outdoor spaces that fit my lifestyle
- Positive interactions with both current students and incoming transfers
Cons
- Location (Bay Area) is less ideal for internships in global studies compared to LA, though NGO opportunities exist
- Most clubs and organizations I’m interested in are highly competitive to join
- Far from family, friends, and support system
- Less stuff to do off campus in comparison to UCLA
UCLA
Pros
- Ill have a better shot at Stanford for grad school
- LA offers the best access in California for global studies internships (government, NGOs, international orgs, etc.)
- Existing personal and professional network in UCLA and the LA area
- Close to family (abt an hr away)
- Weather and overall lifestyle
- Known for a more collaborative student culture
- More to do off-campus socially and culturally
- Opportunity to double major: combine global studies with a major ive only seen at UCLA that aligns with my interests within global studies
- This may realistically be my last opportunity to experience the LA lifestyle since if I move away I plan to never come back & I didnt get to do too much of that despite already living here
Cons
- Name isnt as strong as UCB for grad school
- Quarter system, faster-paced and less preferable for me
- Need to internally transfer majors into global studies, which is competitive and not guaranteed (i was admitted for the niche major from before)
- Study abroad is possible but harder to plan and get approved within the system
I lowkey have opps that are going to UCLA ik ill see them in the same program or clubs or orgs as me & it truly gives me anxiety from expressing myself
- Staying close to home might limit the sense of independence and personal growth I’m looking for
- Significantly less people live on campus at UCLA meaning less people to connect with I guess?
