The Assertion That We're Hopeless and Forever Incapable Of Everything

It's infuriating how people have this weird need to try to convince us that we'll never be good at things. I even had someone try to convince me to quit longsword even though she admitted i look cool doing it because i "won't progress like everyone else and will get frustrated". Had someone say that about Muay Thai too, but he wasn't as like, insistent on it and didn't tell me to quit and was more open to being wrong. These both happened recently but I've heard this in every sport but pole (I guess I'm allowed to do sports as long as I'm naked enough!)

So, the only way to avoid this is to be shockingly like, prodigy-good from the get-go, which is an unrealistic expectation. It's normal to be allowed to suck at the beginning and learn over time. But we don't get that luxury and i'm so tired of constantly arguing with people over my right to be there just based on their need to body shame (make no mistake, that's exactly what this is).

Don't EVER. EVER! listen to these people. Don't even focus too much on proving them wrong. And don't let them try to put some sort of concern-trolling spin on it to make themselves feel better. Just shut the shit down and call it out for what it is. I hate that we have to fight harder than everyone else for the right to live our lives and do things we love, but we gotta be ready to do it and never let anyone shame us out of things no matter how unfair or discouraging it feels.

Anyone know what types of things we're "supposed to" post here?

Every post I see that seems to perfectly fit the theme of this sub, and by the way posts I find a lot of value in, ends up deleted. After reading the rules, they aren't even breaking any explicitly. Are the mods people or bots? I'm so confused. I also had a post deleted with the same generic post they put on every one they delete. The specific problem is never specified. I'm curious.

Anyone seen paraffin oil or kerosene anywhere?

I need paraffin oil, regular kerosene will do but I need to be able to like pour it and stuff so those camping canisters that get like pierced and it comes out as gas won't work. Paraffin is ideal, but either way i need it in like a bottle or something.

Again I'm asking if you've specifically seen it, in person. I already went to a bunch of places that "seem like they might" have it and I don't do online. Thanks!

Student subscribed, then cancelled after 1 lesson. Do yall know why they do this?

Is this common? It seems strange and no reason was given. 1 trial and 1 lesson in, it seems the most random time to cancel. Anyone have any insight?

The fact that there's no sure way out, and seeing what partnered people get away with.

People in bad relationships can break up, but we don't have that escape hatch. We just have to endure possibly forever. The inescapability is getting to me.

And no amount of hotness or coolness or fun...ness helps. It literally doesn't matter how good you are. I hear stories of people in relationships and know I would never behave in the negative ways their partners do. And these people will put up with so much from them. Meanwhile, lonely people have to be perfect manic pixie dream girls all the time despite having no emotional support and no one ever acknowledges how much it sucks. Well except us pretty much.

It's too much pressure. I try to figure out how honest I can be with the people around me without slipping out of the "fun single friend" role which we have to remain in to get any companionship at all. In my experience we get some slack but not much. I want out, I want to push a button and be allowed to be fully human without being punished with even more isolation, but I can't. I'm so tired. I can't relax or feel safe or held or supported. Do you guys relate? I feel like you probably do.

Anyway that's my rant like I said I figured you guys could relate and maybe putting this feeling into words can help or at least make someone feel seen if nothing else. We're all trapped and exhausted here together, right? I think so.

Lesson Still not auto-confirmed after 72 hours

I have a student who didn't show up to 2 lessons (not consecutive). I reported her absent and in theory, the lesson should either immediately auto-confirm or do so after 72 hours. One of the lessons has passed that mark and on the student page both lessons say something like "auto-confirmation soon" but it seems like I shouldn't trust that. Has anyone else had this happen? I have proof I was in both lessons for 15 minutes btw so if I have to take it to support I can. But it's supposed to be an automatic process, no?
