I’m planning to set up a small online business based in Tbilisi (something along the lines of a Shopify store / e-commerce / digital products). I’ve already done some research and got a bunch of information from AI tools about the process — company registration, small business status, tax residency, banking, etc. — but I know AI can miss real-world details or be outdated.

I’d much rather hear from people who have actually done this themselves.

A few things I’m especially curious about:

How straightforward was the company registration process as a foreigner? Any recommended lawyers/accountants/agents?

Experiences with the small business (micro-business) tax regime or other favorable setups for online businesses.

Banking side: how easy was it to open a business account, and which banks treated online/foreign-owned companies better?

Any gotchas with tax residency, reporting, or staying compliant while running everything online?

Practical tips around virtual office, residency, or day-to-day operations that AI doesn’t mention.

If you’ve registered a company in Georgia (especially Tbilisi) for an online business, or know someone who has, I’d really appreciate any honest advice, warnings, or recommendations. Happy to share more details about my situation if it helps.

I'm just at the Mother of Georgia. Police pulled up real quick and asked for my name and passport. Before I could show my passport, the cop wants to search my backpack. He says, "You have a knife?"

I'm like, "No".

He searches and finds nothing of interest.

I say, "I'll get my passport for you".

He's like, "No. Goodbye!"

I'm a 57 year old Australian. I totally look like a tourist.

Is this common?

I am not a snob.
It’s just that in every other country (many) where I’ve been to a classical music concert, people respectfully enjoy the music in total silence and concentration. This is kind of the point of going to listen to the music.

I’m here for work. After going to the cinema and some concerts, I noticed people tend to chat. Last night at the symphony orchestra was the final straw

Constant talking from every angle.
People arriving late and being allowed in.
Many ringtone interruptions. One woman even took the call.
Everyone around me is sat on their phone. One woman was trying to watch videos on a low volume.

I can’t stress this enough… Georgia is 100% an outlier. All across Europe and Asia. Only Georgia.

I’m not really looking for an explanation of the behaviour, I’m looking for a venue to avoid it. I’m here for a while.

Is there somewhere that attracts people who care more about music?

My previous landlord whose apartment 1 left two months ago has suddenly reached out and is asking me to pay for evervthing he cleaned after I left. No communication was made AFTER I left, and this is the first time he has ever contacted

The amount to be paid is 2000 USD, when he has already renovated the apartment and it's out for being rented in watsapp groups

We made sure to clean the apartment before we left and what's left was normal wear and tear which we informed him about months before leaving and also which he didn't fix.

He also complained about the moisture destroying his walls which believe can't be controlled given that no nstructions were aiven regardina this issue when we rented this apartment, and also never tried to fix the issue.

Should I get in contact with a lawyer or should I just ignore the message? Because I have scs of our communication throughout our stay and solemnly believe it shouldnt be our cost to handle.

Hey everyone. Posting here because I am running out of time and options.

I am from Kazakhstan. A human rights defender and documentary artist. I got out in March after being forcibly put in a psychiatric hospital back home with a false diagnosis, F20.0. It happened because of my civic work and because I refused to follow the family script. I applied for asylum here, it got rejected under the accelerated procedure. Going back is not an option for me.

Right now I am in a temporary shelter programme in Georgia. It ends on 11 October. After that I have no place to stay and no income. I am a lawyer by education, I write and perform documentary stand-up, and I am ready to work, any work.

So I am asking for help finding contacts. Anyone here knows organizations or people in Tbilisi who help with housing or know of live-in work? Shelters, small hostels, charities, families who take people in, paid live-in jobs, anything. Even a name or a lead would help.

I document my story on YouTube and social media as Aigerim Code. When the tears end, all that is left is laughter. Still laughing. But I do need a roof.

Hi, how are you? I’m arriving in Tbilisi from Yerevan, and I’m not sure where I can buy a SIM card for my phone. I was thinking of getting one at the airport, but I won’t be going through there anymore haha. SIM cards are quite expensive, around €20 for 10 days.
