ოფისის დამლაგებელი 🧹

გამარჯობა ყველას! 😊

Apartment hunting in Yerevan is breaking my brain—where do locals actually find decent places? ($700 budget)

Hi everyone, I am a 22-year-old from Germany, have been living in Tbilisi, Georgia for about a year now, and would love to move to Yerevan, Armenia for a one-year trial period. My ex-girlfriend was Armenian, so I have gotten to know many Armenians along the way, and I must say I really appreciate them as super nice, friendly, and helpful people. I also find the current programs very interesting, especially regarding business and company registration. Tbilisi and Georgia are quite interesting too, but I am looking for something long-term, and in Georgia, I increasingly feel like the laws and rules change on a daily basis.

Because of that, I started looking for an apartment in Yerevan and, oh my god, I am shocked. First of all, the websites look and feel like they are straight out of the 90s or early 2000s—I am mainly talking about myreality.am and estate.am here. List.am is a bit more modern, but even there, there are not many listings. I thought I would be able to find a decent apartment for up to $700. But actually, when comparing the few listings I can find online around $700 to $800, everything looks very cold and old-fashioned. In Tbilisi, I currently live for $400, which is actually very cozy, and friends of mine have apartments for $700 to $800 that even feel like luxury. I am not looking for luxury, just a 2-room apartment with 50 to 60 square meters that looks reasonably nice.

So my question is, where on earth do I find apartments in Yerevan? Are there any on Facebook Marketplace, or how do Armenians find their apartments? Like I said, on these listing sites that look like they are from the 90s, there are hardly any offers to speak of, or if a halfway normal apartment pops up, it is instantly $2,000, which honestly is hard for me to believe is real, because I do not think normal people in Armenia make that kind of money. I mean, a $700 apartment is already not cheap compared to the average salary in Yerevan, and accordingly, I expect a standard that does not look like a Soviet-era prefab building from the 90s where time has stood still. I hope you guys understand what I mean and that it does not come across as arrogant. Does anyone have tips on which websites to find good apartments on, so there are more than just a handful of listings?

Is it free to play chess here on Petre Melikishvili Street?

Hello everyone,

I have a quick question about the public chess tables on Petre Melikishvili Street, opposite the World Class Gym.

A friend and I came by to play a game of chess, but a man approached us and told us that we had to pay 10 Georgian lari per person (20 Georgian lari in total) in order to use the tables. He said that the payment had to be made directly to him.

When we politely questioned whether this was an official fee, he became quite aggressive, raised his voice, and told us to leave.

Does anyone know what the actual rules are? Is there really a fee to play chess there, or was he trying to scam us?

Why isn't Wolt delivering right now?

Hello everyone,

I was just about to order some food on Wolt because I'm hungry, and I was shocked. Right now, nothing seems to be delivering to Mtatsminda. Not shawarma places, barbecue restaurants, Georgian restaurants, or anything else. Basically, no one is delivering at all at the moment.

Does anyone know why? Is it because of the heavy rain? Does Wolt suspend deliveries when the weather is this bad?

Does it rain this much all the time in Tbilisi

Hello everyone,

I'm new to Georgia since February and come from Northern Europe. I have to say that the weather in Tbilisi has surprised me a lot.

This year seemed very, very cold for a long time—almost until mid-June, apart from a few isolated warm days. And lately, it feels like it has been raining an incredible amount.

I don't mean just a light drizzle or a few drops from the sky. When it rains, it really pours. Is this normal for Tbilisi, or is this year's weather unusual?

I live on a street in Mtatsminda with a slight downhill slope, and sometimes it feels as if hundreds of liters of water are rushing down the street every minute.

I knew that Batumi, because of its climate zone, gets heavy rainfall quite often. But Tbilisi has genuinely surprised me. I always thought of Tbilisi as being quite dry and very warm.

Is this year exceptionally extreme, or is it usually like this?

Would a High-End Classic Car Dealership Work in Tbilisi?

Hello everyone,

I moved to Georgia about six months ago, and I genuinely enjoy living here. Tbilisi is a beautiful city, and Georgia is a fascinating country. At the moment I work online, but it's not something I'm passionate about—it's mostly numbers and paperwork. Lately I've been thinking about building something of my own here.

Back in my home country, I developed a real passion for classic cars. My dream has always been to open a specialist classic car dealership—not a typical used car business selling everyday vehicles like Toyotas or Volkswagens, but a company focused exclusively on exceptional automobiles. My passion is mainly for cars from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.

I've noticed that in Tbilisi you see plenty of everyday cars such as the Toyota Prius and Camry, as well as luxury SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne and Mercedes G-Class. Personally, I find those rather ordinary and uninspiring.

That's why I'm considering opening a specialist classic car dealership with its own restoration workshop. My focus would be on timeless models such as the Mercedes-Benz SL, Mercedes-Benz SEC, BMW 6 Series Coupé, Jaguar XJS, and classics like the 1980s Range Rover Classic.

I have the impression that Tbilisi is gradually developing a stronger vintage and retro lifestyle, partly due to the growing expat community and an increasing number of affluent residents. Because of that, I could imagine elegant classics such as the Jaguar XJS, Porsche 911, or Range Rover Classic finding buyers here.

Of course, I'm aware that import costs have increased significantly since April, especially for vehicles with larger engines, where taxes are calculated per cubic centimetre of displacement. Any business plan would obviously have to take those costs into account.

My idea is not simply to buy old cars cheaply and resell them. I want to restore vehicles to the highest possible standard, using premium materials, English buffalo leather for the upholstery, high-quality paintwork, and meticulous attention to detail. Quality would always come first rather than carrying out quick or inexpensive repairs.

In addition, I would offer a one-year warranty on every vehicle and provide reliable after-sales service. From what I've seen so far, that isn't very common in Tbilisi and could become a genuine unique selling point.

In countries such as Germany, the UK, and Switzerland, there are successful businesses specializing in high-end classic cars instead of cheaply restored vehicles. However, I'm still too new to Tbilisi to judge whether there is a comparable market here.

Do you think there are enough customers in Tbilisi for a premium classic car dealership that offers professional restorations, warranties, and excellent customer service? Or do you think the market is simply too small for such a business to be commercially successful?

I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts and experiences.

Can a foreigner leave Georgia without taking the car they entered the country with?

Hello everyone,

I hope someone here knows about the regulations for foreign vehicles in Georgia and can help me.

I am a German citizen, and my car (German registration, German license plates, registered in my name) has been with me in Georgia since April.

Since the vehicle is only allowed to stay in the country for 3 months, a border run was necessary two weeks ago.

Because I was not feeling well at the time, my brother (also a German citizen) drove my car from Georgia to Armenia and then re-entered Georgia with the same vehicle.

The car was not imported and it is still registered in my name in Germany.

Now my brother wants to leave Georgia in three days and fly to Greece for a holiday.

Could there be any problems when he leaves Georgia because he was the person who drove my German car from Georgia to Armenia and back, and now he is leaving Georgia without the car? Or should he be able to leave without any issues, especially since it was only two weeks ago?

I honestly don’t know much about this topic. I have already sent an email to customs but have not received a reply yet.

Thank you very much for your experiences and advice!

Where can I find replica Lacoste sports shorts in Tbilisi?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a pair of white Lacoste sports shorts in Tbilisi. A replica is totally fine—I don't need an original. The originals cost almost 300 Georgian lari, which is more than I want to spend. I'm looking to pay no more than 100 Georgian lari. Does anyone know where I can find a pair in Tbilisi?

Where to find affordable Guinness beer in Tbilisi?

Hello everyone,

I’m from Germany and currently living in Tbilisi. I really enjoy the city and Georgia in general. However, I have a small “luxury problem”:

I’m a big fan of Irish Guinness and I usually enjoy 3–4 cans in the evening. In Germany, a can typically costs around €1.60. Here in Georgia, I’ve mostly found Guinness at SPAR, where I pay about 9 GEL per can – roughly 3.50 USD.

If you drink 3–4 cans a day, that quickly adds up to around 14 dollars per day, or roughly 350–400 dollars per month.

I fully understand that Guinness is an imported product and therefore more expensive than in Germany.

I actually calculated that I spent around 400 dollars on Guinness in May alone, and I’ve decided to make a change in my life. I shouldn’t be so lazy and just walk to the nearest SPAR, but instead try to find cheaper options.

That’s why I wanted to ask whether anyone knows good shops, liquor stores, or other places in Georgia where Guinness can be bought a bit cheaper. I understand it will never be as cheap as in Germany due to import costs, but maybe there are ways to get it for around 2.30 USD (about 6 GEL) per can, or get a better price when buying in bulk.

Any tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Where can I buy contact lenses in Tbilisi after 10 pm?

Hi everyone,

I'm driving to Armenia tomorrow at 7 a.m., and I just realized that I've run out of contact lenses. I don't normally need them in everyday life, but I do need them for driving.

Does anyone know where I can buy contact lenses in Tbilisi at this hour (around 10 p.m.)? I live near Rustaveli Avenue / Liberty Square.

It would be great if there is a shop, optician, or pharmacy within about 1 kilometer of here that is still open.

I've always brought my contact lenses from Europe before, so I've never had to buy them here. Unfortunately, I need a new pair urgently now.

Thanks in advance for any help! 🙏

Question about a border run to Armenia with a foreign-registered car

Hi everyone,

I'm in Georgia with my German-registered car. As far as I know, the vehicle can only stay in Georgia for 90 days. Many expats seem to do a border run to Armenia or Turkey and then re-enter Georgia.

Does anyone have firsthand experience with this?

Is it enough to drive to Armenia, stay there for a few hours, and then re-enter Georgia on the same day? Or does the car have to remain outside Georgia for at least 24 hours?

Thank you!

How can I get a lot of calories on a small budget?

Hi everyone,

I recently moved to Tbilisi and I'm looking for some advice. Over the past few months I've lost quite a bit of weight and would now like to put some of it back on.

My maintenance intake is around 2,300 kcal per day, and I'd like to increase that to roughly 3,000 kcal. I'm therefore looking for simple, calorie-dense foods or meals that are affordable and easy to find in Georgia.

I'm not particularly interested in spending an hour cooking every day, so ready-to-eat foods, supermarket staples, or very simple meals would be ideal. I'm sure there must be better options than just living on shoti bread and sunflower oil.

Do you have any recommendations for cheap, high-calorie foods or easy meals that are commonly available in Tbilisi? Anything that's good value for money and doesn't require much preparation would be greatly appreciated.

My budget is around 15 GEL per day, but it doesn't have to be as cheap as possible if it's filling and practical.

P.S. Maybe I expressed myself poorly, or my English wasn't very good. Of course I'm willing to cook and spend time at the stove, but I was thinking more like half an hour a day rather than two hours. That's what I meant.

What is the best Dating App in Tbilisi?

Hey everyone, I’m new to Georgia and currently in Tbilisi, and I have a question about the dating scene here. I get the impression that Tinder doesn’t really work the same way here as it does in other countries. Many profiles seem inactive or don’t have real photos, often just cat pictures or very anonymous profiles, and I also feel like there are quite a lot of fake or scam accounts. I was wondering whether it is normal that so many profiles don’t have real pictures, and if there are any better alternatives to Tinder. Thanks for any insights!

Will the number of Muslims in Georgia increase significantly, as it is expected to in the EU?

Hello everyone,

I am new in Tbilisi. Originally I come from the Austrian-German border region, but I have left Western Europe. I consciously turned my back on my homeland because the ongoing Islamization in Germany, Austria, Sweden, France, England, and the rest of the EU is not only unbearably annoying to me, but has now also started to scare me.

These are not media voices, these are hard facts that I have personally witnessed with my own eyes: We are writing the year 2026, and Jewish people can no longer walk through the streets of Berlin or Vienna wearing a kippah without having to fear being beaten into hospital due to Islamic immigration. On the streets there is a rapidly increasing number of rapes, groping incidents, fights, stabbings, and constant terror attacks on our Christmas markets. The situation in schools is even darker: German and Austrian children are systematically bullied, harassed, and broken down simply and solely for being German or Austrian. In classes of 25 students, there are often only 2 or 3 children without a migration background; the small remainder consists of immigrants. Mathematically and demographically, it is only a matter of time until these countries become majority Muslim. We are witnessing the gradual replacement of our culture.

These Muslims do not want to integrate. On the contrary: they demand that Germans and Austrians adapt to their way of life, their values, and their rules—the majority society is supposed to adjust to the immigrants. In addition to massive crime, the biggest problem is that they shamelessly exploit the welfare systems, do not work, and live off the social state.

Now I am here in Tbilisi and I also already see some women wearing headscarves and similar clothing in the cityscape. Since, unlike Germany, Georgia does not have an extensive welfare state where people can live off taxpayers, I wonder what the reality is like here:

Are these exclusively well-off tourists from the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf states?

Or are these people who already live here permanently, work to a significant extent, and have settled here?

How many Muslims actually live permanently in Tbilisi and in Georgia as a whole, without tourist status?

Do you think the number of Muslims in Tbilisi will massively increase in the coming years, similar to the negative developments in Germany, Austria, and the rest of the EU? Or will the number remain stably low here?

I want to emphasize once again clearly: I basically have nothing against Muslims. I have friends who are Muslim, and I do not have a problem with individuals. However, I am firmly convinced that a homogeneous society—in which Christians live among Christians and Muslims among Muslims—is the only functioning and peaceful form of society. In my opinion, once Muslims become a larger majority in a traditionally Christian country, it inevitably leads to serious social conflicts, violence, and existential problems.

How do you assess the situation locally? Is Georgia threatened with the same fate as Western Europe?

How much should I tip Wolt delivery drivers?

Hello everyone, I’m new to Tbilisi and I order from Wolt quite often. Nothing luxurious though — usually just a shawarma with fries or a cola, so my orders are often around 18 Georgian Lari.

How much tipping is common here, or is it even common to tip Wolt drivers at all? Sometimes I didn’t leave a tip and then felt bad afterward because I’m a foreigner and I don’t want Georgians to think: “That dumb European lives here but can’t even tip.”

Honestly, I don’t know how it’s usually handled here. If tipping is common: what amount would be appropriate? Would 1 Lari be okay, or would that seem stingy and 3 Lari would be better? As I said, my orders are usually around 15–20 GEL.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I genuinely have no idea.
