Do we have the hardest schedule in the league?

I’m looking at this schedule and there is a VERY realistic chance that we go 6-14 in our first 20 games. My god this is about to be painful, I really do wanna be optimistic but you’re telling me our first 6 games are Houston, Indiana, Spurs, Miami, OKC and then Houston again. Adam silver deadass hates us man.

If you knew that Kawhi contact would be voided after you trade for him would you trade for him? FT Memphis

Interesting scenerio where you can get rid of bad money in exchange for keeping the salary on your cap for this year only. Memphis would be letting go of 2 young pieces that will never play serious basketball for them plus grant money in exchange for dealing with the Kawhi situation where even if it takes until the trade deadline I would tell him to stay at home and rest himself as you won’t need him. Memphis also needs to cut players so this could be a good way to get rid of 2 extra contracts without needing to make extra trades or cut people.

The clippers get at least something as it looks like Toronto will fully back out the deal. Grant can very much play for their team and the other 2 well they can try to develop them but it’s just taking something for a really bad situation.

Derrick lively extension

Now that Naji has been extended the next player on the list is most hopefully lively. Even though I’m mostly in the cap of letting these guys hit RFA if lively has a healthy season like I’m anticipating his price is about to feel VERY uneasy. I’d rather get him on a short term extension if 40/2 where we can keep him and he gets paid but at the same time it isn’t long enough where we’re stuck with a bad contact.

The only way I could see us going for Ben mathurin

I’m not a big fan of mathurin playstyle and don’t think it’ll translate to winning basketball but as a swing play right now I’m fine with it. We would need it to be a 3-4 team deal depending on if Klay can be rerouted to Miami and if not the clippers just keep him. Also i do NOT want to pay Ben anything over 20m he’s just not worth that price.

The Cavs in this scenario get a POA defender and can still go after Peyton Watson. Clippers can keep or reroute Klay and we get Ben. But tbh we just don’t have the assets to go after him and I think it’s a long shot to even consider him over here.

Wizards, mavs, Portland

Portland get that 4 they’re looking for. Wizards get off the AD headache and looming extension which will lead to him leaving anyways. Mavs get Jrue who they’ve been linked to a couple times. Wizards get another young player in Sharpe who isn’t going to get a lot of playing time with all the guards on the blazers.

I don’t think any picks are sent out everyone gets someone they’d like for a fair price. Jrue has been injured and regressed a bit on a big contract, AD health is a concern but if you can manage his minutes he’s still a top 30 player in the league. Wizards just add to their young core, free up a lot of minutes and probably buy out Klay so he can go play for Miami. Santi is also on a team option which is nice.

Only way Dallas is giving Cleveland kyrie

Realistically Dallas will have to take on an aging harden on a 2+1 contract (as it’s a sign and trade) which I would demand a first unprotected as he’s 37 in a month. The upside is harden has been in the playoffs every year of his career and is good for the regular season which is all the mavs need. Allen is an upgrade at the starting centre spot as well.

Cleveland with this trade get the LeBron and Kyrie pairing back, they get a backup centre and a POA in Martin. Cleveland get to move Mobley to probably his best position as a centre. Cleveland starting lineup would be Kyrie, Mitchell, Martin?, Lebron and then Mobley with a bench of Schroeder, strus, Tyus, Gafford and other players.

The mavs are only doing the Kyrie trade if it can either upgrade their roaster right now with a first or multiple firsts as it makes no sense for them to trade him away for anything less.

Mavs would not need to trade or buyout Klay as they’d have opened up a roaster spot they needed as well.

Nets, Bucks, Mavs, Wolves

Nets get expiring contracts and better shooting help. Bucks get 2 seconds for a bad contract which helps them rebuild. Mavs open up roaster space. Wolves get a better wing player as realistically they can’t move Josh Green for anyone better as they don’t have the assets to attach to get a much better upgrade, they just take a swing at Martin and hope last year was a down year (after all star break he started to look good again).
