Next Day Air Friday Delivery

Before anyone goes through this experience DO NOT USE UPS NEXT DAY AIR for Friday delivery. If you do and they miss the cutoff window for sorting then it will sit on a tractor trailer for sorting at the facility until Sunday. Those crews work Sunday through early Friday am and you are stuck if your package has the slightest issue.

I wasted thousands of dollars today because UPS had a little bit of a weather delay and my package got to the airport at 430 am instead of 230 am. I had employees at the UPS distribution all day long waiting. Don't put yourself through this pain. Don't use this service for anything that you really need.

Lennox blower motor replacement

Good afternoon, Had an Endura H007U6 1/2 hp 230 VAC blower motor go out in a Lennox unit CB27UH. Motor went out because either myself or the previous owner (we have been in the house 16 months) let the plastic wrap on the filter get sucked into the Evaporator Coil covering 60% of it. Our A/C company took a few days to get out and it ended up being Saturday evening. I had already diagnosed the issue before they got there. They confirmed the blower motor was bad but could not provide an availability due to the time they arrived. They quoted $2200 for the replacement with an option of cleaning the fan wheel for an extra $300. This is in Texas.

  1. I own a services related company that puts tooled out tractor trailers and pickup trucks with skilled labor out on the road. I am fine with billing $200/hr. I am fine with marking up replacement parts 100% (we don’t do this in my business but I get it for jobs like this). Running my own numbers I figure four hours of labor max between two trips (it took me 20 minutes to get the blower motor out and I had never done it before) so $800 on labor and $609 for the motor because the OEM part is $300 from the HVAC supply. I think $1400 would be a reasonable price for the job. In all honesty they are probably spending three hours of technician time between the two trips and an 30 minutes of part runner and admin time. The $300 for cleaning the fan wheel with coil cleaner that might cost them $25 in materials and 15 minutes since they have to pull it for the blower motor anyway also ed excessive. $125 on this would have been reasonable. My question on this is whether the numbers seem high?

  2. From what I can with the 13XM ECMs is that they appear to just be plug and play and don’t need to be programmed? I am planning to go to the supply house at 730 am (we have an account through another business) to pick up the motor since the HVAC COMPANY couldn’t source it Saturday and install it myself.
