Military as knee-jerk reaction to poverty

I have noticed, in my time scrolling here for advices, there is a significant population of people who suggest the military will fix their problems. As a veteran myself (USMC 0311 1/6 A) I find this attitude kinda suspect, and bad. I think people should think a hell of a lot harder about a decision like that. When I think back to the people who had the worst times, they basically joined with the same impulse. I am sure those of us who served can remember such people, and the crazy hazing if you go back 10 years ago which I hope went away.

When I think of the people who got the most out of their time, they were generally people who actually wanted to be there and embraced the suck / made the most of it.

any other vets feel the same way seeing the same thing?

Nedd to make my first deck better (Vishgraz)

https://moxfield.com/decks/YKQWPeZ-10q71KnTHXH3uQ

Brewed my first deck, i am fairly new to magic but, decided I like this character after looking at different possible commanders and brewed a deck. Moxfield calls it a bracket 2, which is quite bad as most people I play with run 3-4. I also already have a bracket 2 deck (modified green white precon)

Any glaring holes? I heard that lands / mana curve tend to be a main issue for noobs like myself.

Easiest car / truck to work on

Considering getting a new vehicle. Currently drive a 2019 Frontier that I think is about to die (transmission and engine both struggling.) I do all my own work except body and transmission rebuilds, I even rebuild engines, so my priority is mainly something I can keep alive with good maintenance and possible occasional big repairs (that are not a huge pain in the ass or require a lift.) I haul several times a year so I would prefer a truck but, I can keep an open mind if it is really cheap and easy to work on / get parts for.

Worst example of a big ego you ever encountered?

Used to work with this smug chuckle-fuck that always said “I forgot more than you’ll ever know.” He could not drill a hole straight to save his life, and would complain about stock needing to be square. My response was always “Is that why you don’t know anything?”

How to convince old guys of new methods?

I got this job at work that is super simple. I am sharpening blades, work older than machining. The issue is, I am being advised I should only step down .0001” at a time for each pass to go down a total of .033”

I asked why not do a roughing cycle (.0004” passes was my exact suggestion) for at least half way, preferably a bit more, then doing .0001” the rest of the way down to finish. They said this would ruin the wheel and ruin the blade. I did it any way and the part is absolutely fine, and so is the wheel. Wheel is 220 grit borzon on a Mitsui 12x24.

What do? How do I convince this man I don’t have to go one tenth at a time the whole time? Am I actually ruining the wheel / part and hallucinating the numbers from QC?
