My FSP project
I just wanted to share my FSP build. I’m hoping to be ready for my local SCCA Autocross season this fall. I’ve been working on it for three years now. It’s still street legal, but weighs 1900lbs.

I’ve been watching a lot of videos over the past couple years. I find this stuff interesting. I’ve worked on cars for years as a hobby and I needed something I could do inside. This might be it. I bought a handful of broken pocket watches, and this is the first. It’s a New Haven, presumably from the 1950’s. It was not working. The balance wheel wasn’t in correctly and the mainspring needed some tweaking. It now works.
I’m excited. As simple as this watch is, it was gratifying and I hope this turns into something long term.
Hopefully picking this up next weekend. I’ve been shopping for suspension upgrades. The seller doesn’t know if anything has been done to the suspension. It has a lot of other upgrades that would make me think some suspension work has been done.
This shock res almost looks anodized, but I don’t know of any anodized red rear shocks. What do you all think? Wait and see? Yeah I will.
I have an opportunity to trade one of my bikes for a 2007 DR650. I’m pretty interested in doing this, but hesitant for some reason. I’m 6’5”, 250. I know suspension upgrades are highly recommended. The bike has risers and lowered pegs already.
I live in the desert and really enjoy riding my DRZ on trails and dirt roads. The DR would give me an opportunity to jump on the highway and go farther away. I could also ride it to work once in a while. Those are all positives. I like how simple the bike is too.
Is a 30 minute ride at 75mph reasonable? I wouldn’t do it daily. Maybe once a week. Will I hate myself for getting another motorcycle that is missing a 6th gear?
