Happy update on our little baby bird! 🐣

Our little guy made it through the night in his t-shirt-pillowcase nest! We kept him warm and took him to the Wild Bird Fund this morning. We met a guy on the subway taking an injured pigeon there too 🐦 and a woman also on the train said she’d donate to the WBF because she was so touched. Yay!

The woman who did the intake said he was a grackle. I hope he does well 🐦‍⬛

Thank you to the person who made the initial post and the person who was already on the scene when I went to get him! This community rocks 💕

Arboterra — worth it? Any other place to see animals?

I’ll be spending a couple of days in Puebla with my in laws in Sept. They’ve said they want to see animals while we’re there. They live in a tiny rural town in the mountains so they’d love to see anything unique, really.

Sadly we won’t have a car so the Africam Safari is probably out of the question. I’ve been looking at Arboterra but it looks like it might be geared towards kids? If you’ve been, do you know if we can skip the cheesy guides, or will we be stopped at every station while exploring the place?

The city zoo looks a bit rundown with tiny enclosures so I think I’ll strike that one out also.

Arboterra — yes or no? Or any other animal places we can visit?

My husband and I would like our 12yr old nephew to visit us next year during his summer vacation. He won’t be unaccompanied to the US — we plan to be with him. He lives in a small town in Mexico, goes to school, and helps his family with their small general store.

I know I need to provide strong evidence of his ties to Mexico / his parents’ ties. We’ll provide a letter from his school and recent report cards.

His parents’ situation is what worries me. We might be S.O.L. as their store and their home (same building) and 8 acres of land they use to pasture their cows, is not in their name. Everything is “owned” by them but in the name of the father’s mother (who is now deceased). They’re also quite poor. Not poverty poor but definitely not well off.

Our best bet is to try to get the deeds fixed for the home/store and land. Anything else we could show along with this?

Has anyone had any success with a B2 for a minor in this situation? Is it even worth pursuing at this point?
