Went Back to My Hometown After 2 Years — Didn’t Expect It to Feel This Different

Trip Details

Start & End Dates:
3rd May – 7th May 2026

Route & Places Visited:
Mumbai → Hometown → Old school area → Local market → Friends’ places → Back to Mumbai

Number of Days:
5 Days

Costs & Budget

Total Trip Cost:
Around ₹7,000

Daily Budget (approx):
₹1,200/day

Major Expenses:

  • Train tickets: ₹1,500
  • Picked up by my father from station
  • Random shopping & snacks: ₹1,500

Accommodation

Stayed at home after a really long time.

10/10 experience purely because of home food and not having to explain to anyone why I woke up at noon 😭

Also realised parents will still treat you like a child no matter how old you get

Transport

Travelled via overnight train from Mumbai.

Used Cycle and walked around most of the time because almost every place had some memory attached to it.

Food & Experiences

  • Ate at the same old roadside sandwich stall after years and somehow it still tasted exactly the same
  • Met school friends after ages and spent half the time roasting each other
  • Realised my “small” younger cousins are now taller than me
  • My favourite chai tapri got renovated and honestly that hurt emotionally for no reason

The weirdest part was seeing how much everything changed while also feeling exactly the same.

Felt nostalgic, peaceful, and slightly emotional throughout the trip.

One snack you always buy during heavy rains in Mumbai?

Mumbai rains is about to hit differently so just wondering the famous snacks people prefer during rainy days.

For me, it’s always mix bhaji with extra chutney and cutting chai. Nothing beats that combo during heavy rains.

What’s that one snack you automatically crave the moment Mumbai starts pouring?

Money Heist Is Back but this time they are for Gold

The new trailer just dropped and somehow the tension, soundtrack, and chaos still hit exactly the same. Feels like we’re getting pulled into another emotional rollercoaster by this franchise again.

Do you think the new season/spin-off can live up to the original Money Heist hype or is nothing beating the Professor era?

Stayed at Ramada Kochi and I was quite impressed with it given its price. Property is beautiful and 5 start level.

Which is one hotel which you which you found under rated and why?
