Recently purchased a 2011 V-Strom 650, which currently has 17,400 miles on it. Not sure of the maintenance history, other than a new air filter and coolant flush, which I performed (coolant is fresh). The question is, considering the recommended valve inspection interval is 14,500 miles, is it dire that I do valve inspection, or am I okay for a while? How many Gen 1 650 owners found the valves needing adjustment upon first inspection/at this mileage? I know that after the first one or two adjustments they tend to stay within specification for many thousands of miles.

BST-40 w/ 42.5 pilot/140 main jet, JD jet kit red needle w/ clip at 3rd position with plastic spacer under it, FMF Q4 slip-on exhaust, Twin Air filter, stock uncut airbox, sea level. How many turns air/fuel screw? Right now it’s between 1.75 to 2 turns out. Haven’t checked plugs. Wondering if anyone has a similar setup or thoughts. Also curious if it makes sense to remove the snorkel and put in a 145 main or leave as is. Generally ride at ~500 feet above sea level, 50 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Thanks
