Travelling for surgery

I told an orthodontist I was planning to get my surgery done in another city, and he said that he would highly recommend against that. He said you should get a surgeon in your own area so if you have any problems you don't have to travel, and also after the surgery you don't have to travel.

Yet plenty of people go to other cities and even other countries. What are your guys thoughts on this?

Can you clean a water filter with unsterilized water?

I just got a British Berkefeld, and in the instructions it is very particular about not 'contaminating' the filter housing.

In order to start using it, I have to clean it in warm soapy water, but the only water I have isn't sterilised. It's tank water from a rooftop rainwater system that only goes through a paper filter. As such it will have contaminants in it.

I emailed Doulton but they didn't answer my question, they just said you're only supposed to use their filters on municipal water supplies...

So I just want to know if contamination is such a huge deal that I can't use my (supposedly potable) tank water to clean it? Perhaps boiling it would be enough?

Cleaning bench top filter

Hello, basic question here. I just got a British Berkefeld, and in the instructions it is very particular about not 'contaminating' the filter housing.

However, in order to start using it, I have to clean it in warm soapy water, but the only water I have isn't sterilised. It's tank water from a rooftop rainwater system that only goes through a paper filter. As such it will have contaminants in it.

So I just want to know if contamination is such a huge deal that I can't use my (supposedly potable) tank water to clean it, or if I'll have to use bottled water or boiled water to do so.
