disclaimer: this is going to be a pretty long post (and if it wasn't already clear, for the tier list specifically it obviously ranks both the base mon and it's evolution)

hello, i don't post to this sub very much however i am fairly experienced with the game itself and it's more intricate and competitive mechanics. my methodology for this tier list was simple but i'll get into that in a bit, first i'd like to explain how i view the game and how the game works.
firstly obviously everyone understands the goal and objectives within the game but everyone is bound to have their own understanding and ideologies of how they think the game should be played. i believe the game is based on evolving your mons and that's why you'll see so many mons that have good evolutions towards the top of my list, but we'll get to that. secondly i believe that to play the game optimally you want to limit the options your opponent has, any mana draining effect or an effect that limits what you can do on your turn(s) is unbelievably broken and gives the other person total control over the pace of the game. concerning pace, it coincides with limiting your options being able to control the pace of the game is the next important thing, so having mons with lower mana cost and/or mons that can "cancel" out a higher mana cost are very strong in this regard. lastly the arguable most valuable thing a mon can have is it's matchup spread against other mons. mons like sniblet and sahibun for example, are very strong because they completely disregard the core mechanics of the game. now they are extreme examples of course, however my point is that the things they're able to do give them good matchups into most or all current mons.
logistics behind the list: my view of the game is that you want to be as consistent as possible within each game and between each game, this is something that is related to pokemon if anyone in this sub has experience with competitive pokemon, it's why most of my previous points relate to similar ones in the VCG scene. anyways i also don't think all abilities are equal of course, there are some very consistent abilites that are tied to mons that aren't in higher tiers, which you may feel free to comment and inquire about and i'll respond to my reasoning behind each of them individually.
lastly i'd like to make it clear that this is a tier list made for ranked specifically (as i believe the game would be different in a more competitive environment), through my personal research i haven't been able to find a space for competitive match monsters which is something i'd like to change, i truly think this game is beautiful at a high level.
anyways sniblet and sahibun are braindead and need to be reworked immediately, if any match monster devs view this post i truly hope they take this into consideration for the upcoming updates.
