Have done 3 water changes in the last 24 hours. NO2 was at 0 consistently.

29 gallon planted tank with 3 fish. Was at 0 after 2 40% water changes last night. Now this after another water change today. Currently running a new canister to replace old filter, both running at the same time. I’m adding prime every water change and added stress guard. Fish do not seem distressed. Is my tank cycling again with the new filter?

Any help or wisdom is appreciated.

NO2 spike, can anyone help?

I have changed the water within the last 5 days, test every other day. Haven’t have an NO2 spike with this tank before. Have multiple live plants and some small fish. 29 gallon.

Not sure what to do.

Edit: could a dying plant or old leaves cause a spike? I had a plant not doing so hot I just cut all dead leaves and removed one plant entirely.

One of my jack Dempsey cichlid may be sick

I had an old tank and transferred 3 fish over from it, a jack dempsey a small catfish and a pleco, this was months ago. Two of them acclimated within the month but another the jacks health has declined over time it seems.

He’s eating and slowly swimming around but getting skinnier, has white around his mouth and only getting darker.

I also have a jack that’s a few months old but entered into my new tank only, he’s thriving. Any advice or knowledge for me?

My ph is good usually between 6.5 and 8 and my nitrates are around 20-40 ppm

I just cleaned the back wall so tanks alittle cloudy.
