So I am a second year student at my university and got shortlisted for an interview for the SDET role. It has a stipend of 2lpm.

Now I mainly want and SDE role but it's hard to pass by an offer like this. I've heard SDET is kind of a dead end(please go easy on me I do not know much), people say its hard to transition from SDET to SDE and that the pay for SDE is even better than SDET later on. I've read that its almost impossible to switch internally to a dev role.

This internship is going to be done on the summer of my 3rd year.

I would really appreciate any insights. I wanna know if its a bad move to accept it if I wanna be an SDE later on and how hard of a jump it would be.

Department: CSE

I just want to join a capstone team since everyone I know already seems to have formed one and I need to look for new people.

Most domains like ml, systems, cybersec will do.

I just want teammates I can depend on and don't want to have a frustrating experience for 1.5 years.
