Seeing Schitt’s Creek in autumn would have been nice 🍁🎃

I know winter in Canada can be tricky (see: impossible) so I understand why they CGI’d the snow in the Christmas episode, but it would’ve been nice to see Schitt’s Creek in the autumn. Brown leaves, nice sunsets. A Halloween episode! Then again, it’s an eternal summer dream world where time doesn’t exist, so I get it.

Best actor in the show?

Rewatching for the first time in about 5 years, and I forgot how much I loved this show. It got me through 2020 and still brings me so much comfort.

The show is full of great acting, and of course honourable mention goes to the great Catherine O’Hara, but I honestly think the one who blows everyone else out the water is Noah Reid. I know the style needed to approach big characters like David and Alexis is different, more caricatural and iconic, so in contrast Noah’s subtlety and earnestness is so obvious and refreshing. He’s an incredibly convincing actor, and there isn’t a single moment where I can ‘see’ him acting if that makes sense; he is Patrick, and he thoroughly embodies the role.

What does everyone else think?

Strange place. Beautiful though. I took a load of pictures of the stunning ochre-pasted buildings and enjoyed the composition of this one, kinda like a Windows background.

I’ve done my fair share of recreating Hunger Games recipes. The dessert soups from Catching Fire, the lamb and plum stew, goat’s cheese wrapped in basil. But there’s one thing that pops into my head all the time and I really want to eat it.

Near the beginning of the first book, Katniss is settling into her Capitol apartment when she orders “goose liver and puffy bread” from the machine that brings you any food you request, and walks around eating it until dinnertime.

I don’t know what “puffy” bread is supposed to be, and I’ve never even tried goose liver. It’s not something really available or commonly eaten in my country, but I feel like I can guess at the way it tastes and I want it so much. And for the bread I’m picturing a fluffy roll with a crispy crust. Yum.

This was in the till at work. I often see coins from the commemorative 50p series in the tills but this is a new one to me! I wonder how rare he is in comparison to the other Benjamin (of the bunny variety) that turns up much more frequently.
