David Rose reactions have become my emotional support system

Hi, newbie here. Just my little collage of David Rose reactions.

The older I get, the more I understand David Rose.

Honestly, every dramatic reaction, emotional shutdown, and inconvenience-induced crash out feels increasingly reasonable.

On a scale of David Rose, how are we feeling today? ✌️🖤

A wee detail

I’m watching S2:E9 Moira’s nudes - when David is trying to get some cash from the ATM, I could see his sunglasses’ brand for a second, and I love how he’s wearing his own (Dan’s) brand. The picture isn’t the best but it’s DL. These details just make this show even better!

Which word or phrase do you randomly catch yourself saying for no reason?

I was driving today, and randomly said "Pamplonaaaa" 🤣

Which ones get you for no reason?

Seeing Schitt’s Creek in autumn would have been nice 🍁🎃

I know winter in Canada can be tricky (see: impossible) so I understand why they CGI’d the snow in the Christmas episode, but it would’ve been nice to see Schitt’s Creek in the autumn. Brown leaves, nice sunsets. A Halloween episode! Then again, it’s an eternal summer dream world where time doesn’t exist, so I get it.

Best actor in the show?

Rewatching for the first time in about 5 years, and I forgot how much I loved this show. It got me through 2020 and still brings me so much comfort.

The show is full of great acting, and of course honourable mention goes to the great Catherine O’Hara, but I honestly think the one who blows everyone else out the water is Noah Reid. I know the style needed to approach big characters like David and Alexis is different, more caricatural and iconic, so in contrast Noah’s subtlety and earnestness is so obvious and refreshing. He’s an incredibly convincing actor, and there isn’t a single moment where I can ‘see’ him acting if that makes sense; he is Patrick, and he thoroughly embodies the role.

What does everyone else think?

Moira never says "Schitt's Creek"?

I'm on another rewatch of the show, and I am curious if anyone else has had this suspicion.

Does Moira ever say the name of the town aloud? Does she ever actually say Schitt's Creek in any season?

Let me know if I am wrong, but I can't think of a time where she says it.

Post-Galápagos Ted is the Ted everyone thought he was all along

I need to talk about Ted Mullens because I feel like the show keeps trying to sell him as this harmless, sweet, good guy, but on rewatch he comes off way more pushy and emotionally weird than I remembered.

First, what is everyone talking about with the “engagementsss” plural? He only got down on one knee one time. But throughout the show, people keep saying “engagementsss” and “failed engagementsss” with this emphasis on the S, like Alexis repeatedly led him to the altar or something. Unless I’m missing a scene, that framing always felt exaggerated.

And the actual proposal situation is uncomfortable. Alexis clearly does not want to marry him. Her body language is screaming it. But Ted keeps pushing with the whole “you said you’d marry me if you weren’t leaving, and now you're not leaving" bullshit. as if a technicality means she owes him a yes. Off to such a bad start.

Even later, when he says he’s “trying to be there for her,” it often feels less like support and more like him making his feelings her responsibility. He has this “well actually…” energy where he acts polite, but there’s a pretentiousness underneath it. Like he’s the guy who corrects every sentence you say but somehow still thinks he’s being charming.

The first night Alexis sleeps over at his place is another example. She sits down, clearly trying to be nice, and his dogs immediately jump all over her, one of them in a diaper, tails in her face, chaos everywhere. She tries to say she’s not really around dogs much and is obviously uncomfortable, but Ted somehow interprets that as her worrying the dogs won’t like her. Then he says, “Oh, don’t worry. They love you, lets pretend they're our kids.” Sir. Read the room.

And then there’s the old ladies’ in that retirement home dancing thing. Ted has clearly been talking about Alexis to these women, because when he brings her there, they act like she’s the devil herself. None of them want to touch her. One of them flipped her the bird. That didn’t come out of nowhere. He’s been telling this sad little “two failed engagements” story around town, making himself look like the sweet wounded guy and making Alexis look like the villain. That is not nothing. And yes Alexis could have been more upfront but it takes two to communicate.

Ted has a little dinner party with Alexis, twyla, Mutt, Stevie and David. He asked the question "what do you criminals talk about all day?" like he didnt have that dinner planned just to ask that question. The conversation went in a different direction but Ted brings it back around all to find out they were talking about dreams. She does some messed up stuff, she also almost cheated on Ted in the happy anniversary episode. She was in her villain era and he was in his whatever that was era.

I don’t think Ted is evil or anything. I just think he gets way too much credit for being “the nice guy” when a lot of his behavior is actually pushy, awkward, and emotionally manipulative in that soft-spoken “but I’m such a good guy” kind of way. Alexis looks uncomfortable around him so many times, and once you notice it, it’s hard to unsee.

Alexis went to view an apt with Ray

Does anyone else think that the guy who unalived himself in that apt was Bobs brother Carl.

David's wedding menu test

I didn't really get John's reaction to the food menu during that episode.

Was it because he spent the David's wedding fund after they lost their wealth?

“Look at you… look at your pants”

How David looks down at his pants after he says it is too funny and how they go back and forth.

“First of all… you’re a little bitchy.”

“I happen to be a little bit older than you.”

“Obviously.”
