Either way ima be spending around $330, and i do need power efficiency so kinda leaning towards intel b580.
These would be paired with a ryzen 5 9600X and a 750w PSU
Rn i have rtx 3050 6gb laptop and running Linux, i just need something that’s better than that at 1440p on Linux.
I have 2 old laptop boards, which should i use?
I have a chromebook acer 311 (i have pic of specs) and an old 2017 macbook air. The chromebook is significantly less powerful but is more power efficient, so power efficient that it has no fan, and from what I’ve seen and heard should have higher battery life on linux than an intel mac.
But the MacBook has better integrated speakers, is more powerful by a decent bit, double the ram (8gb) and I can upgrade the storage rather than relying on usb/sd card like the 32gb chromebook.
I was already planning on adding something like a 74wh powerbank that i have (output 18w or 20w usb-c) ontop of the mac or chrome battery
But of course, even for the Chromebook, that’s pretty low power, but with the internal battery idk, maybe it’s enough lmk what yall think cause i may return it.
I would like my thing to have atleast a somewhat decent battery life while watching vids, doing web based work, or maybe even LIGHT gaming.
I kinda wanna see if I could run minecraft 30-60fps I bet the macbook could but prob not the chromebook sooo Idk.

Forgot to mention that the Chromebook has much better port selection, would allow me to use pass-through charging usb-c hubs, both usb-c ports have charging capabilities and both usb-a ports are 3.0 so it allows for much easier port expansion.
There is a thinkpad t430 and a r51 in the photos
Im pretty sure T series is supposed to be better first off, and also these are more than 10 years apart I’m pretty sure. Why the hell is the screen on the Lenovo t430 so ridiculously terrible? No matter what angle you view it at it just sucks. Yes the r51 is yelling, but that’s just with age im pretty sure. And either way it is still much better than all the colors getting inverted, it’s still clearly viewable.
Also, a sidenote, having the extra vertical space on the r51 would be amazing for modern computers, even if you didn’t take that exact screen ratio, just a little bit more vertical space would be so much better on modern computers. Having 16:9 sucks soo damn bad, whoever decided to make that the default should go to jail, it cuts off so much of your screen.
I’ve installed linux mint on this and a 2010 macbook pro but with the recent update on lmce anytime I update it has a kernel panic. I just need something light. I was thinking debian with XFCE I recently used that on a different computer and kind of getting annoyed with debians restrictions on external drives and stuff. (Ik i can fix it but i don’t wanna troubleshoot for an hour or more)
I also need some thing with good drivers.
From what I remember, this is a world that started a few months ago, played for a bit, then died, and couldn’t find my base again. And from what I remember, I alt+f4 and found this near where I last logged off.
It doesn’t even look like it’s raised chunks, it looks like a completely different world replaced some of the chunks. Idk.
I think it’s cool though, what should I build here? Ill prob make it my base and save cords this time lol
I got the RCA to RF converter from AoeSpy on Amazon, i'm trying to connect it to an old portable Emerson CRT. Even before this, I tried using JUST the VCR playing Indiana Jones, no converters, just the coaxial cable and tv transformer, I did the same thing. (Audio works just fine with converters and VCR btw)
So the VCR, PC, and Pac-Man game is doing the same thing, audio is fine, but video is corrupted. All use the TV transformer and the Coaxial cable.
At the end of the video I show the web browser window that I was bringing into the TV btw, and u can see the mirror effect (ill call it that ig)
How can I fix this? Is there something wrong with the cable maybe? Transformer and all converters are new.
