Remembering the 2000s

Just for reference I’m gonna be 26 in a couple of months soon so I’m still young, but old enough to remember a lot of things about the 2000s. Is it normal for me to remember things from 2002 till now because they say your memories start at age 3, but I was 1 going on 2 in 2002 and I remember the first Spider-Man coming out, I remember my second birthday party and just the vibe of the year. Do you guys think I’m lying, or am I having a false memory lol? Because 02 till now I remember vividly 😭.

Zach Braff rep

I know Zach Braff gets a bad rep online for whatever reason, but I genuinely wanted to understand why. I know a lot of people criticized the age gap between him and Florence Pugh, and of course there’s that infamous Punk’d moment where he roughed up that kid 😂, but outside of that, is there something I’m missing?

Like, has he been known to be rude in real life, difficult on set, or a jerk to fans/cast members? Or is this more of an internet thing where people just decided they don’t like him? I’m honestly curious because whenever his name comes up, people act like he’s this massive asshole and I never really understood where it came from 😭

LIFE clip that cracks me up

I’m pretty sure most of you seen the movie Life, and it’s a funny yet heartbreaking movie, but one of my favorite scenes is Ray telling Claude to clean off that damn table before he whoops his ass. I don’t know why that line is so funny to me 😂. Maybe it’s Eddie’s delivery, but I always crack up at this scene. I figured you guys could use a laugh since a lot of bad is going on in the world

Scrubs good black representation

I saw a post earlier about how Hollywood and TV often portray Black men negatively, and it got me thinking about positive representations instead. One character that immediately came to mind was Scrubs and specifically Donald Faison as Turk.

I think Turk avoided the stereotypical “Black best friend” role because he actually had depth outside of JD. He had his own storylines, personality, career goals, and relationships. The man was also portrayed as a brilliant surgeon, confident, funny, competitive, and emotionally mature without being reduced to stereotypes.

And yeah, he wasn’t married to a Black woman, but he was still in a healthy relationship with a woman of color, which was also refreshing to see on a mainstream sitcom at the time.

Honestly, Turk felt like a real person first instead of “the Black character.” That’s probably why he still holds up today. Plus, Scrubs is one of my favorite shows ever right next to The Bernie Mac Show 😂

What are some other TV shows or characters you think portrayed Black men positively without falling into stereotypes?

Terrence Howard Robert Downey JR drama

So of course most of us know the whole situation with Iron Man and how Terrence Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle because of behind-the-scenes drama.

I know this happened years ago, but for people who follow entertainment news and Marvel stuff closely, do you think Robert Downey Jr. did Terrence Howard dirty, or did Terrence kind of bring it on himself?

I’m genuinely curious because I’m a huge Marvel fan, but I’ll be honest — I never fully liked Don Cheadle in the role 😂. What do you guys think?

Approaching girl that works at Chipotle

So I frequent this Chipotle once or twice a week, and there’s this girl that works there I’m really tempted to ask out. The problem is I know how annoying/uncomfortable it can be getting hit on while you’re literally just trying to do your job 😂

So what’s the least awkward/respectful way to go about this? Do I just leave my number on a note and let her decide? Ask for her Instagram instead? Or do I just take the L and keep ordering my bowl in silence? 😂

Basketball game score

This is kind of a lighthearted post about one of the episodes that came out in season 4 I think it’s when Dr. Cox wanted to watch the Lakers Heat game. I’m the biggest Lakers/Kobe fan you’ll find, but if they were referencing that Christmas game where Shaq and Kobe faced off for the first time Lakers lost that game in OT 😂. Because they said Kobe dunked it for the game winner so did that episode air before the actual game because I don’t know that’s always been pretty funny to me 😭

So I passed the initial ATF Special Agent assessment, and I got an email saying I can move on to the next phase of the application process. What are the next steps? Is the Physical Fitness Test next? Also, could you let me know how soon I can expect a response regarding my next steps? I took the test on April 26 just for some context.

I was listening to sports radio the other day and they were ranking the best Martin Lawrence movies. They brought up Life, Blue Streak, A Thin Line Between Love and Hate… all solid picks.

Then they got to Black Knight and just started trashing it 😂

I get it, it’s not some masterpiece. But it’s FUN. Silly, over-the-top, Martin doing his thing — sometimes that’s all you need. It’s definitely one of my guilty pleasures.

Anybody else enjoy Black Knight, or is it just me? 🤣

So this situation doesn’t really affect me directly, but I wanted to get some outside perspective.

My little cousin is graduating high school in about a week, which should be a happy time, right? But apparently not. My aunt (by marriage) told my mom that the graduation party has been canceled because of my cousin’s “egregious behavior.” There were already limited tickets for the ceremony, so not everyone could attend, and now the celebration afterward is off too.

I’m not around my cousin all the time, but I’ve seen glimpses of how she acts. For example, over Christmas I bought her food, and she tried to eat in the bed. I told her she couldn’t do that, and she ended up calling my mom saying I was “hounding” her 😭 So yeah…that gives you an idea.

From what I’ve heard, she’s been acting out a lot—obsessed with boys, talking about wanting a baby, even trying to expose her mom on TikTok. It seems like a lot. I honestly feel bad for my aunt because she’s a travel nurse, so she’s been gone a lot trying to provide and still tries to set ground rules—but my cousin shows her zero respect. On top of that, my uncle doesn’t really discipline her at all, which probably makes things even worse.

I get that this could just be a phase, but with graduation right around the corner, the timing is crazy. Instead of celebrating, everything is just tense and messy.

What would you even do in a situation like this? Is canceling the party the right move, or does that just make things worse?

I’m thinking about joining Kappa’s grad chapter since it’s a way to meet more people since I don’t have a lot of friends. I heard it was more professional and you don’t have to deal with the nonsense you have to deal with in undergrad with hazing. Should I go for it?

Got it—that line was a little extra anyway. Here’s a cleaner rant + nostalgia version:

I was just thinking about this when I went to the movies a few days ago… why does going to AMC theaters feel like a whole event before the movie even starts now? 😭
You’ve got like 15 minutes of previews, then the pre-show stuff, then the Nicole Kidman commercial… at that point it’s easily 20+ minutes before the movie actually starts.
I can’t be the only one who misses the old AMC intros. They were simple, quick, and had way more charm. Even the one from like 2009–2012 where they’re watching a movie in that enchanted forest just felt… kinda magical in a low-budget way lol
Now it’s just ads on ads on ads.
I’ll drop the link below because that old intro really took me back 😂

Bro I’m gonna say this about this situation it’s in the header seriously why is this breakup such a big deal? My mom talked about it, I’m seeing a lot of online think pieces talking about it. We don’t know these people 😂. It’s getting sickening of all the other important stuff going on in the world this is what people are invested in. I mean I have my forms of entertainment too, but I also know who my local legislators are their policies, and platforms they’re running on. Mind you I’m not even the most political person in the word, but this investment in these celebrities lives has got to stop man and it’s turning into a gender war, and I’m sick of this crap 😂
