Fellow black men I hope this video helps some of you guys that struggle with what others think of you!

Everyone has a different version of you in there mind. Everyone thinks of you in different ways. You can’t control how people remember you from the past, can’t control what others think of you, and can’t control what they say or think about you no matter how much you have changed or since the last time you seen them. Hope this helps because this kind of helped me💯.

Tennessee school district bans Alex Haley’s Roots under 2022 state law

A KCS spokesperson, Carly Harrington, confirmed the district’s decision to remove Roots from school library shelves under that law.

“As a district, we recognize the immense cultural and historical significance of Alex Haley’s Roots to our nation, to Tennessee, and particularly to the county seat of Knoxville,” Harrington said in a statement. “The decision made to remove Roots from school libraries is in no way a commentary on the literary or cultural value of the novel, but the result of adherence to state law.”

She said Roots had recently been elevated to the district’s review committee for consideration over a passage in the novel’s 84th chapter, which it determined was not “age appropriate” under Tennessee law. “Broader themes or historical significance of a work as a whole is not a consideration under the law,” Harrington added.

Black men: if you aren’t active, get active. Local elections, local school boards, local town halls and city hall meetings. Get those progressives through the primaries. Door knock and phone bank. Don’t leave it to the Divine 9, NAACP, and Urban League. It’s not enough. YOU are needed.

They think they’re slick but they really can’t tell you more loudly and clearly that they hate you and the truth of the black American experience to this day, and will happily create new laws and use every technicality therein to find a new excuse to edit our history out of American history. “Not age appropriate” today, “not enough cited sources” tomorrow.

Don’t let the retelling of these days be that you watched from the sidelines as our story was being obscured, deprecated and erased.

Florida schoolteacher caught on video depicting black doll as being "lynched"

Hillsborough County teacher 'removed' after video of racially charged display goes viral

>Noah said he saw his teacher, Karen Savage, as she was putting up the disturbing display.

>“She followed me after class was over, and that’s when she started talking over me and not letting me speak when I was trying to report what she did,” Carter said.

>“We don’t want to remember lynchings and Jim Crow and separation and division, and we try to get away from all of those things,” Williams said. “Our children are supposed to be able to go to school and not have to worry about being reminded of our past, of things that we had to experience.”

>Hillsborough County Public Schools Superintendent Van Ayres condemned the display as “unacceptable” and said it did not reflect the school district’s values.
good lord, another example of the cohort of maniacs who are out there and their deeper opinions of black children. Shameful and unforgivable. Hopefully she is fired, and hopefully never teaches again.

sidebar: The editorial choice to call this "racially charged" instead of flat-out racist is yet another problem when it comes to news media outlet coverage of public affairs.

The Art Of Failure

I have an incredible knack for losing… it’s a skill at this point…

Going around thinking I’m hot shit then BAM! It’s over! I’ve lost!

The only thing is, I’ve never been much of a sore loser and maybe that’s a problem…

My failures continue to haunt me everyday and even when I’m winning something comes and crashes the party… brings me down and humiliates me, humbles me… and leaves me scrambling to pick up the pieces…

I don’t know what’s worse: telling people you were wrong or telling them they were right?

What’s more devastating: Never having a chance or missing an opportunity?

The most satisfying failures are when you thought you were so high and everything fit together cleanly for it all the vanish at the snap of finger and it’s all because of some shit that happened 20 years ago…

Those type of failures can leave you desperate, unmotivated… and embarrassed even if you only told your mom…

It’s knowing the haters would laugh if they knew and how all of a sudden your timeline doesn’t make as much sense anymore…

You can lose yourself here… this is where it can become unbearable and reality becomes a nightmare.

And it seems like the sky is falling…

But you must remember…

YOU HAVE THE RECIPE!

You have the mind to overcome anything…

If failure is an art… then sometimes you have to use it to paint success…

And if you can paint success with a bucket of failure…

Well then… You’re a Bad Motherfucker!

Update on Life Transition/Move

✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿

Im committed.

Most of you probably haven’t seen my earlier post. Regardless, here’s an update: I have officially decided to move to a new city for a fresh start. I have the money to leave now, but there are some things i still need to handle.

I plan to move to Houston later this year.

Any advice?

About a month before my move I’ll start applying to jobs in my area. I want to build a strong social life. I want to make friends and date. I’m down for casual dating at first while I settle, but if something serious comes naturally I’d consider it. I really need this reset, and a fresh environment. I am not exactly sure which area in Houston I will move to yet.

People in the area or who have been dating consistently, do you have advice? This is a big change, but I need to improve my life and grow as a person.

People in Houston, what do you recommend? How can i build friendships? What events, or organizations, or spots are very social and new-guy friendly? If you were me, what would you do to build a vibrant social life in Houston full of friendship, community, sex, and romance?

EDIT: I’m not moving for economic opportunities or family. I’m moving to remove myself from toxic environments and land in a setting where I can build a vibrant social life.

EDIT 2: I am in my 20s and my desire mainly lies in experiencing a full social life.
