Subject: DPF/EGR Delete vs. EU Technical Inspections (Slovenia/Central Europe)
Hi all,
I have a US-spec 2013 VW Beetle 2.0 TDI (CJAA) currently located in the Balkans. The car currently has the EGR blocked with plates, DPF removed and a software delete.
As I’m preparing to relocate to Slovenia, I’m facing a dilemma. I know that many owners in the EU still run 'deleted' setups to save the engine from carbon buildup and DPF failures. However, with the new PN-testing (Particle Number) being introduced in various EU countries, I’m wondering if these deletes are now a guaranteed fail.
For those running deletes, have you managed to pass inspections lately?
Does the visual inspection usually catch a hollowed-out DPF?
Is it better to just bite the bullet and reinstall the OEM hardware (DPF/EGR) and flash back to stock software before moving?
I'd appreciate any insight, especially from anyone living in Slovenia or neighboring countries like Austria/Italy. Cheers!
