Looking for some insight or similar experiences.
I had a Wells Fargo credit card for about 2 years — always paid on time, never missed a payment, and no major issues.
Recently, my card was lost and there were multiple unauthorized charges. I reported them immediately and filed a police report. This actually happened once before in the past as well (lost card + fraud), but both times I reported everything properly.
Today, I received a letter from Wells Fargo saying they closed my account due to “high risk activity.”
I’m pretty frustrated and confused because none of those charges were made by me, and I followed all the correct steps.
Has anyone else had Wells Fargo shut down their account after fraud like this? Do they consider repeated fraud claims a risk? Is there any way to appeal or reopen the account?
Appreciate any advice.
