NYC show - Kinda let down
Let me start by saying that pier 17 is my favorite venue so knowing that Bilmuri was doing a show there got me so damn excited last year and I bought tix immediately.
I have seen Bilmuri at Irving and Brooklyn steel in the past 2 years and I can say they were amazing shows to be at so my expectations were very high for Pier 17.
Let’s start with something small; the hat. As a big sports fan, to see the hat drop being different at every show was a great idea and I was psyched for it. I thought of the endless possibilities of what the hat would be; orange and blue for Knicks and Mets?, red and blue for Giants and rangers? I knew my jets were going to be left out so that’s okay, but Yankee blue and white? Okay, not a Yankee fan, but when I saw an earlier fan rocking the hat before the show and he got it from Dallas and they were cowboys colors, I immediately felt like something was amiss.
Even if you are a Yankee fan; the hat looks very generic and might as well be the official hat colors. Cinci, Detroit, Nashville and ATL all got great color ways for the hats that properly represented the city.
Okay, enough about hats…the show it self. Like I said, I have seen bilmuri twice in NYC and both shows were amazing. Gabi is from NYC so the show should feel more special…well nahhh…I understand pier 17 has a hard time stoppage but the show just felt like song after song after song. No breaks, no talking to the crowd, little to no interaction.
Add that to the sound issues they had all night, the show felt incredibly underwhelming. It be lame for me to blame they just did this HUGE show tor Nashville for a DVD, but honestly it felt like a hangover for them to even do this show.
First timers may not see it, but it was really clear to others who seen them before, this show felt run of the mill, get in and get out.
It’s okay if you don’t agree, but I go to shows constantly and bilmuri is my fav band so maybe my expectations were too high, but overall, it felt like a weak show.
