Unpopular Opinion: Plenty of Homemaker Wives are NOT religious.

It may not be a majority but it's a notable number! You do not have to be religious to be a homemaker. I never was. 3/4 of my closest friends are homemakers and only one is religious.

Some thoughts..

Ha, who knew this was a subreddit? I was a complete trad wife for years. I now work part time. As soon as we married we got life insurance that could easily pay off a mortgage so any job I got could cover the cost of keeping things running. Also, disability insurance. The whole time I've kept my licenses in the beauty world current and I intend to do that always. I did notice though that we've never spent like alot of families seem to. We enjoy nice things and "little treats" but are generally thoughtful of purchases and such. It amazes and frightens me that some women are at home without their name on accounts, property, etc. It outright freaks me out that some women are at home with no life or disability insurance policy. Then there are the women who act like those things don't exist and every homemaker is some pathetic victim, that all men cheat, and that alimony doesn't exist. *eyeroll* Anyway, my happiest friends are my tradwife friends. I just wanted to say,"Hello."

Modalities being taken away from estheticians? Tell me more.

I haven't seen this here, but just learned it's happening in at least one state. You don't have to name your state if you don't feel comfortable but if your area etheticians are having modalities removed from scope of practice I'm interested in knowing which ones and if/how it's affected you.

Why do some people get all out of sorts when a random esthetician starts doing services out of their home?

Here in the US in most states you're not allowed to do esthetics from home. At least if you do thry have a bunch of nonsense rules like having a seperate entrance. Have most of us done this at one time or another- at the very least for family and friends? YES.

I'm writing this because I just saw a local esthetician get absolutely dragged for saying she couldn't afford suite rent and was going to do esthetics from home.

Is this a risk she's taking? Yes, if someone complained she could be fined. Here's the thing though, you're not supposed to do nails from home yet countless nail techs do that. No one makes a big deal In that part of the industry. Sad to watch estheticians trash their own kind.

For the record, I've gone to home salons my whole life. Most of them were cleaner than many of the places I've seen being in the industry.

Are people dragging these home estheticians because they're viewed as competition given that they'll be able to charge less without overhead? I just cannot imagine why anyone cares if some random esthetician wants to work from home. No one is THAT worried about a complete stranger receiving a fine.

Can you do mobile massage only in dog free homes?

I've done in-house massage in the past but it was for people I knew. I was considering doing outcall but how do I make it so I'm not in a house with dogs?

I find it weird when introversion is confused with shyness!

Shyness is literally social anxiety. Introversion is not. Of course someone could experience both but they're not the same thing.

I've never accepted or even locally heard of a massage job where we live that paid low. No one should be massaging for 25 dollars. Yes, 99% of people give a good tip but that is besides the point. All of this said the closest I've heard was I know an LMT who quit a place recently bc they were paying her 33 per massage. That's not good either but 25 is flat out unacceptable.

Why are some estheticians sometimes pitted against dermatologists, whereas in all these years I've not once heard a pedicurist compared to a podiatrist or a stylist compared to a trichologist. I find it to be a silly comparison and while I've not experienced it directly I have heard it more as of late. I don't understand it at all. Thoughts?
