I was all-in on carnivores a few years ago. Never got to grow-tent level but I picked my specimens to work with my climate. Then I moved to a tiny 2nd-floor apartment and had to rehome my bog gardens. Sunlight reflecting off a windshield torched several of my Neps, and thrips claimed my last Sar. Scale-farming ants reduced my D. Binata to a stump but it is slowly bouncing back, and

I still have an N. Ventrata and Ampullaria that live contentedly on my balcony. But I've leaned into cacti and seed-grown trees because I can keep them out by the dog run and they can tolerate a little bit of neglect. I guess I forgot that carnivores can be grown indoors with a quality light.

So say hello to my new indoor carnivore garden, claiming a couple shelves of my stand-alone "wardrobe" and lit by a ViparSpectra P2000. Amazon didn't have the 1000 in stock so 🤷‍♂️

I've wanted a Cephalotus and a D. Regia for years. So happy to finally have them.

I got this hybrid from Curious Plant (P. "Dragon) last week, my 3rd ping ever. I didn't have a lot of success in the past so I'm second-guessing everything.

This plant was very tall and skinny, with the leaves very compacted when I got it. It wanted to fall over even with a half inch or so of the rhyzome buried. So I lifted it a bit and used some coarser lava rock to hold it in place.

It seems to be doing okay but it's only a few days.

Experienced Ping growers, does this look like it's going to invite rot? Should I try to lift it higher now or let it acclimate first? Or just leave it alone?

Mix is sand, calcined clay, pumice, perlite, vermiculite, and akadama.

While not native to the US they are considered beneficial by some due to their strong dietary preference for False Buttonwood, a class 2 invasive weed.

It would appear that Sir Jennings Cockburn has landed a lucrative deal with the Microsoft. No word on Martha's involvement
