Why are animations so slow?

In every phone I've had, I was able to tweak animation speed to make them very snappy in developer options, I just got a Xiaomi 17 and animations are very slow for me, it literally gives me the ick everytime I do something and tweaking developer options doesn't work anymore apparently, it used to work on my old Xiaomi with MIUI. I saw they have a new option in settings to change animations speed but that only works for some animations and it's still very slow. Is there anything I'm missing? Why does changing animation scale not work anymore in hyperos?

Recently got an s26 but it's still in the return window and although it works flawlessly, I feel like I could have much better hardware with the other two, and as of now I could have the pixel 10 pro 128gb or the Xiaomi 17 for about 685€, which one would you choose? I used Xiaomi in the past so the software isn't a big issue and I didn't have any problems with it, but I know pixel software is great, although I hear a lot of issues about P10 pro having weak CPU and modem that overheats and drains battery on 5g, as well as a lot of people in the past had problems with pixels batteries or displays, what's your experience? What would you choose?
