Hapoel Tel Aviv announced on their social media that they have reached an agreement on the arrival of forward Amir Coffey.

Coffey spent his entire career in the NBA, where from 2019 to 2025 he played for the Los Angeles Clippers, then moved to the Milwaukee Bucks, and later the Phoenix Suns.

After completing his stint with the Suns, Coffey is heading to Europe, and the 29-year-old basketball player has signed a one-year contract with Hapoel.

Hapoel’s announcement:

Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv Basketball Club is pleased to announce the signing of American forward Amir Coffey for the upcoming season, until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Coffey (29, 2.01 m) joins Hapoel after seven seasons in the NBA, during which he played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Phoenix Suns. Throughout his career in the world’s top league, he recorded 369 appearances during the regular season, with averages of 6.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game, shooting 52.8% from two-point range and 38.2% from three-point range.

Professional manager, George Chinas: “I want to thank our owners for their assistance in making this move. Amir is a veteran and well-known NBA player who will help us in our efforts to win the championship and the state cup, as well as to replicate our successful campaign from last season in the EuroLeague.

Team coach, Dimitris Itoudis: “I welcome Amir to our red family. His experience and size provide us with a multi-dimensional player who can play in multiple positions, score, rebound, and also defend well. We are very happy that Amir is joining Hapoel.

That peach of a cross from Leo reminded me of smthg

As we know by now, Trossard is likely on his way out to Besiktas for next season, but I have to say, I'm SO relieved that we got him instead of Mudryk. Like that's the only thing I'll give Chelsea credit for, taking that guy away from us cos it meant we could get Trossard instead of him, and look how we turned out.

Such an invaluable member of the squad and he'll always be a Gunner in my heart. So many key goals and big moments, always delivered when we needed him.

Something I don't understand about the Miles Bridges trade

I listen a lot to online discourse and content creators in the NBA sphere for their reactions to trades and whatnot, guys like SROS or even more local ones like AZ sports, and initially when everyone was turning around and giving this trade an F grade or a D grade I was just like 'these guys are hating man, the Suns literally addressed a positional problem and fixed a couple other issues like rim pressure or another offensive threat and size etc. despite the offcourt issues (which are undeniably abhorrent btw)'.

But the more I've thought about it, the more I've come to the conclusion of agreeing with the media about how shortsighted this move actually is and I question whether Ishbia and co have actually learnt anything from their past errors. You had a 2033 UNPROTECTED first round pick, which is an insanely valuable asset given how the lottery system will be unknown by that point and Book will be 37 by the point it rolls around. And with how many stars seem disgruntled/will end up being disgruntled in the future, the likelihood of getting trades with big names happening is really likely (Jaylen Brown case in point).

All that considered, you decide to use your most valuable asset on MILES BRIDGES. Not Lamelo Ball, which was a fair swing for Minny, not a bonafide star, not a player with playoff wins and experience on his shoulder, not an elite defender, not an elite playmaker, none of that. Just MILES BRIDGES. He's not gonna propel our win total to like 55+ nor make us closer to contending with OKC or SAS, and even more so, he'll probably take touches AWAY from Book and prevent Rasheer getting starting minutes, which he's shown he's deserved tbh.

So what I don't understand: why? Why would you make a trade like this that doesn't align with culture, doesn't align with the idea of getting Book closer to a ring, or align with developing your rookies? And further to that, might prevent you from drafting the next big star in 2033, for all we know, that could be the number 1 pick in a draft like this year's.

The only way this makes sense to me is if there's another move involving Jalen Green coming later this offseason or at the deadline or smthg since we can trade the 27 and 29 FRP's, but even then, those picks are kinda useless likely to be in the 20's, so why would a team give us a star in exchange for that package.

I wanna be optimistic about the future of this team of course, but Ishbia's seemingly impatient nature to just wait for the right moment and then put together a decent package is starting to get me worried about this team not just now, but post Book era.
