While it’s true that this is a position held only by one of the four main schools in Sunni Islam, it’s a fruit of the same poisonous thinking that manifests in other less obvious ways.

Muslims repeatedly claim that the Quran traces back to Muhammad, but we know that this isn’t true. They claim it through two methods - the oral and textual traditions. The oral tradition is easy enough to debunk, given that there’s no way of proving it to be true, as well as parallel oral traditions of the Quran which have major differences in wording and meaning (these are called the Shaadh Qira’aat). But Muslims love to claim that there are textual traditions which date back to Muhammad. And this simply isn’t true.
