Can someone explain how you get hit so hard while farming Bosses, you literally Get Thrown Back to the First Quest?!

I'm stumped. Smh lol.

For the love of all that is good in this world lol. Is it me? Or is anyone else having trouble getting over those damn lily pads with Hawk?! Any help is appreciated!
