Just beat reborn treant - soul wood and now I’m heading to/through the palace from the corpse pits. How far in am I?

Don’t want to google it and be spoiled on stuff

I guess this probably just comes down to cost cutting but why do they make you run through the entire thing just to turn around and do it again. And the end of the game they make you do it again or reuse the boss from there or something if I remember correctly.

Why?

I’ve done a normal playthrough once but I never bothered with any dlc. This time around I decided i would play the DLCs so I googled when I should do them.

Why is it so convoluted? And some people are saying you might not be able to finish it without over-leveling yourself. How do you prevent that?

People seem to always know specific people to kill for specific guns or shields or class mods to perfectly build their character. How/where do I learn this stuff?

For the first time ever I feel the urge to take a character to the limit. Do all DLC’s, tvhm, maybe uvhm, and I’d like to get specific guns that compliment my character. Typically I just play the game normally and get whatever loot feels the best in the moment.
