Sesame Double Shot - Formal last

This is a good looking boot fresh out of the box, but it's gonna get dirty real fast. Bring on the 5 days of rain. Nothing extreme , just a classic looking boot. Unstructured toebox should be interesting with such a flexible leather.

Natural Minerva Edward Boot , Leo last - 11E

These are used but still have plenty of life in them, and the hard part is done. These begin their life very very pale, and take some time to reach this bright golden orangish color. Saddle Tan can only dream of becoming this, Essex comes close but not quite. There's a photo of all 3 in this post , the Essex in the photo is relatively new, so it's still kind of peach colored, the saddle tan is doing what saddle tan does (going to brown town), but the natural Minerva.. Just pops.

Anyway 175 Shipped, you cover any fees, I cover shipping.. box etc included .. must make space.. to many damn boots.

Curious to see what's in store for the field boot, surely there's some new leathers coming? Only time will tell, but for now I'm still very much enjoying the Saddle Tan version.

So what do I think of these things... let us chat. First off, the leather is surprisingly soft, and supple, not what I was expecting after my experience with 5 or so other CXL boots. I guess some bootmakers are treating or coating the CXL similar to what you get with fancy dress shoes, not on these. Very rich brown color, with a hint of red coming through.

The last is great, may be the best fitting Truman last for my weird ass feet. Smaller heel, and tons of room in the toe box vertically, and horizontally. No issues with high insteps, easy to get in and of, quite a difference from the formal last which was my favorite 24 hours ago :)

The stitching is great, the sanding is nice and tight, symmetry on the moc toe could use some work. Overall I'm happy with them, and I hope Truman uses this last with other leathers cause you know..CXL, does CXL things.

Oh yeah..the oldschool hardware too ..

will be Sesame Double Shot Uplands.. Love these, very comfortable and flexible all over. Double shot for sure marks up easier than chromexcel but I still prefer it to the latter, or maybe I haven't seen thick well clicked CXL yet.... only time will tell.

Posted one of these for someone thinking about Essex in another thread so why not share with all since they are on double sale this weekend. 278 is a deal IMO , love this leather. Anyway boot in the foreground is about 2 years old, purchased used and i wear them often. Background is newer but never really worn, what they look like out of the box. As you can see, the older boot has darkened, lost some of the peach color, and has gotten more golden over time, but still lighter than most leathers. The difference in person is a lot more obvious than the photos show, cameras just don't like this color, and I don't think SRGB (the color space for browsers) can really display the subtle differences.

Maybe not as rugged without the lug sole, but truth be told I hate that lug sole. I look forward to the day I can resole some of those boots. These are a lot more flexible, and quite a bitter lighter than my other Brass boots. The Kangaroo leather is great for the summer months, probably not the greatest for the winter, as I don't think it will insulate as well as some of the thicker leathers. It doesn't really form big creases, just kind of waves .. of course it's pretty easy to match with many outfits, and not super attention grabbing green. Anyone who finds the brass boot to be a bit heavy, and clunky should try a pair of these, or lug sole too. Brass Boot Jungle Kangaroo

I reach for these a lot surprisingly. I didn't think I could make blue boots work, but these are such a dark color that it just fits in many scenarios. This leather is pretty heavily waxed, which out the box made them very shiny looking, but that has faded as the wax has been exposed to the world, things rubbing against them etc. Although I own waxed rough out leathers, this is my first experience with a waxed smooth leather. I think I'm gonna have to grab a hair dryer to spice them up occasionally as the wax can make things look kind of cloudy. Anyway, more accurate photos for those who jumped on it during the sale.

I'm tempted to go take pictures of the Ink Cheaha in the same light since we got this big sale going, and those are the cheapest. Worth every penny IMO. Anyway , better photos of TS formal last, it's easy to see in these photos how the dreaded crease happens, as the cap toe prevents some flexing across the toe. Doesn't bother me at all, I don't really notice it, but others are sensitive to it I guess. Your foot matters, the volume, the shape, it's impossible to make an all fitting last since everyone's foot is different. A real cap toe would fix the crease, but may restrict some peoples toes, or clamp down on some people's feet. Regardless these boots rock! I still like the double stuff leather more, but these aint far behind.

Of course they were all sold out except one 7.5EE, which doesn't work for me. Last week they popped up on the seconds, and sample page at a great price, so I took a shot. My first venture into the work last, went with an 11D, and they fit great. This last is obviously a bit wider than the others, and has a much narrower heel which I like. I really dig this color, next MTO I will try a work last without the moc toe. Ink Cheaha moc toe work last

These have never been out in the sun. I have the same boot that I wear all the time in a different size that are pretty damn broken in. These just have been tried on a handful of times, thought about sending them out for a resole, or resale. There’s quite a difference in appearance after a few months out in the sun, the pale peachy color starts to fade, and turn a bit more golden, darkens a bit, but not drastically. I don’t think you would even notice the patina if you didn’t have an unworn pair for comparison. Maybe after a couple years of abuse Essex will really shine, I guess we will find out.

Love these, don’t think I’ve ever seen something like this in the wild other than what I’m wearing. Might see the occasional Red Wing, or Thorogood , but never anything on the more flashy side.
