I finally decided to update my vc version. Do you recommend still using SHA512-PBKDF2 or Argon2? Or maybe the others. Im a novice so any info explaining the differences of all the KDF algorithm would be great! Also which is the best for simply making containers on a usb?
So I read a lot about a veracrypted container on a usb still leaks data on your pc. Would it be best in settings to check mark "mount volumes as a removable disk". Does it stop your pc from caching your data or potentially saving data like on a notepad for example. Also i read it removes the hidden recycle bins? I'm only asking because I might need to get my pc fixed and I don't want my passwords getting leaked. I'm a novice with veracrypt so im learning so I can save my back ups for my password manager in a container and it gives me the upmost privacy!
I'm also struggling to know what exactly should I put into my back ups in my encrypted container. Im guessing a pux, and csv file. The emergency sheet, and what else? Should I put totp back up codes/recovery codes in a notepad in my container or is leaving them in 1password good enough, since ill export a copy of my data anyway?
Tldr: I'm afraid all my data in the container can be leaked in the pc.

Or is it a security risk somehow on the pc i’m using? My pc broke so I have to send it to a shop to get it fixed, and i’m worried they can somehow retrieve my passwords still. Im new so im trying to learn what’s best. I dont want someone to be able to go on my pc and able to retrieve my back up notepad passwords. I dont know if pcs save anything. Thanks!

I wanted to buy some to make art but researching on google only speaks how dangerous it is. I cant touch it with my skin? If i go out in the sun or expose my skin to a uv flash light can it be dangerous if i have harmine on my skin? Ii feel like google is very misinformed if someone can explain how it works and how much is needed on your skin to have a negative effect
I remember disabling Yubico OTP and YubiHSM Auth from my usb and Nfc on my yubikey a long time ago. Im a novice with pcs so i forget why I even turned them off. i looked online for answers what they really do and if its needed to be on but since im not really advanced with knowing pc stuff can someone explain to me what both of them do in simple terms and if its ok to have them both off on the usb and nfc portion of the yubikey?
Also I have PIV, OATH, OpenPGP, FIDO U2F, and FIDO2 all turned on. Do you guys know what each of them do and should I keep them on?
A lot of times when im in my encrypted container looking at photos it wont let me unmount my container for awhile. I found out its because of com surrogate. Is it ok to end it in task manager whenever that happens? I dont want to mess up my pc of i have to constantly do it. Thanks!
Hello, I have 3 usbs I encrypted where I upload my video game clips. They were on my pc but i wanted to save space so i moved them to usbs. Everything has been fine for a month but starting yesterday when i try copying a bunch of files to my usb the speed goes to 0 and basically stops. I get around 5% every time and it does this. Anyone know a fix around it? Im trying to copy the files while vc is open and it gets stucks
