Other than Grand Seiko, why is Reddit obsessed with Seikos?

See title, which pretty much speaks for itself.
I understand the appeal of Grand Seiko—finishing, movements, Zaratsu, Spring Drive, etc. But outside of that, I feel like every time someone asks for a watch recommendation, Seiko somehow makes its way into the comments, or there are 5 of them in a collection.

Is it genuinely because people think Seiko offers the best combination of quality, design, and value? Or has Reddit collectively decided that recommending a Seiko is the 2026 equivalent of owning a Tag.

Not trying to hate. I genuinely want to understand the obsession.

We are a young professional couple around 40 living in Lakeview. Can anyone recommend how we might make friends with other couples who don’t have kids? I suspect many Chicagoans have gone through this and have some strategies.

We have plenty of lovely wonderful friends with kids, but very few without. Thanks in advance.
