The Fall
THE TRUTH OF THE FALL
They always tell the story from the other side. God made everything. Man betrayed him. An angel fell. Hell opened. And I became Satan. That's the story. It's almost true. I remember Heaven. The way you imagine it. There were no golden gates. No clouds. No music. Just endless white and a silence so perfect that even thought felt loud.
I remember standing there. I remember Him looking at me. And I remember the question. "Do you love them? "I looked down. Below us was Earth. Billions of little lights. Living, Dying, Praying
Lying.
Hurting each other. I said no. That was my first mistake. He asked me why. I said nothing. He smiled. And that was when I understood. He already knew. I wasn't thrown from Heaven. I walked out. The gates closed behind me. They say I screamed. I didn't. They say I begged forgiveness. I never did. I simply looked back once. And saw Him still standing there. Watching. Waiting.
Hell wasn't waiting for me I built it. At least, that's what they say. The first thing I found was darkness. The second was a voice. It belonged to a man who had died alone. He asked me where he was, I told him. He cried. I watched. Not because I enjoyed it. Not yet. Then another came. Then another. Soon there were millions. Every one of them expected fire. They were disappointed. Hell isn't fire .Fire ends. Hell doesn't.
I gave them their memories. Every forgotten face. Every lie. Every person they abandoned. Every hand they refused to hold. I gave them all back. Perfectly. They hated me for it. That part always amused me. They blamed me for showing them what they had done. Then one day, someone asked me a question.
"Do you hate us?"
I looked at him. He was missing his eyes. I could still see the tears.
"No."
He started crying harder.
"Then why?"
I leaned closer.
"Because you keep asking the wrong question."
He never understood. Most don't. They think Hell is punishment. It isn't. Hell is honesty. Nothing disappears here. Nothing gets forgotten. Nothing is forgiven. And that's where they were wrong about me. I never promised forgiveness. He did. I never promised salvation. He did. I never told them I loved them. He did. But every soul that arrives here still looks at me with the same question. Why didn't He save me? I never answer. I don't need to. They already know. That's the part nobody puts in the story.
They call me the Father of Lies. Funny. I've spent eternity watching people lie to themselves. I only open the doors. They walk through. And now you're here. You want my side of the story. You want to know if I'm really the monster they told you about.
Look behind you. Don't worry. You won't see anything. Not yet. Now look at me. You see the smile? You should. Because I haven't smiled once. Not until you arrived.
You see...
I remember you. You don't remember me. But I remember you. I remember the night you almost died. I remember what you prayed for. I remember what you promised. And I remember what you did the morning after. You thought nobody saw. God saw. I saw.
And now you want my side?
Fine.
Here it is.
I never dragged you into Hell.
I just waited for you to come home.
THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FALL
They tell you Lucifer was cast out. That is not what happened. I remember. I was there. was no battle. No screaming angels. No flaming sword. Lucifer simply stood before Me. He looked down at the world below. Millions of lights. Millions of lives. Millions of little things that would eventually end. He asked Me one question.
"Do You love them?"
I said yes. He looked at them again. Then he smiled.
"Even the worst ones?"
I said yes. He looked back at me.
"Why?"
I did not answer. He already knew.
That was when he turned away. He walked toward the edge of Heaven. I called his name.
"Lucifer."
He stopped. For a moment, I thought he would return. Then he stepped forward. He fell. And I let him. That is the part they never understand. I could have stopped him. I didn't. Hell did not exist before he fell. It appeared beneath him. A hole opened in creation. Black. Silent. Endless. He landed inside it. He looked up at me. I remember his face. He wasn't angry. He was smiling. Then he said something I have never forgotten.
"You'll send them to me."
I told him no. He laughed.
"You will."
Then the darkness closed around him. I watched Hell grow. Not with fire. With memories. Every sin became a room. Every lie became a door. Every regret became a voice. And Lucifer sat at the center of it all. Waiting.
I watched him for a long time. Then something happened. He stopped hurting the dead. He started waiting for the living. He began appearing in dreams. Whispers. Shadows. Faces in mirrors. A hand on a shoulder when nobody was there. People blamed him for every terrible thing. Sometimes they were right. Sometimes they weren't. But Lucifer didn't care. He only wanted one thing. For people to look at Me and ask why I allowed him to exist. And eventually, they did. They asked. They screamed. They cursed Me. Some stopped believing. Lucifer smiled every time. But there was something they never saw. Something even Lucifer didn't understand. I was watching him too. Because Hell was never his kingdom.
It was his prison. And he was never its master. He was its first prisoner. He just didn't know it. Every soul he tormented added another chain. Every lie he whispered tightened another. Every person he convinced to hate Me brought him closer to the thing he feared most. Silence. One day, Lucifer stood alone in Hell. No souls. No screams. No voices. Nothing. He looked up. I was standing above him. For the first time in eternity, he looked afraid.
"Why are You here?"
I said nothing. He stepped backward.
"Send them."
Still nothing.
"Send me someone."
I looked at him. He understood. There would be no one. Not this time. Lucifer looked around his empty kingdom. Then he screamed. Not because he was hurt. Because he was alone. And I left him there. That was the punishment. Not fire. Not pain. Not death. Eternity without anyone left to hate. Before I closed the door, he looked at Me. His voice was barely a whisper.
"Did You ever love me?"
I stopped. I looked at him. And I answered.
"Yes."
His face changed. For the first time, Lucifer cried. I closed the door. And Hell became silent. But sometimes, when someone dies, they say they hear something just before the darkness takes them. A voice. Very far away. Begging. Not for forgiveness. Not for mercy. Just for someone to answer. And every time they hear it...
Lucifer hears it too.
