Discussion of 2026 charter amendments votes.

Besides a few references, I've not seen any real discussion about the upcoming charter amendment votes. I used the reddit search function and only found this.

The Honolulu City Council webpage is here: https://www.honolulucitycouncil.org/oahuvotes

It provides links here: https://www4.honolulu.gov/docushare/dsweb/View/Collection-17112
With PDFs for the text of each amendment.

I mention this because Honolulu Civil Beat just posted an article regarding ranked choice voting, which is question #5.

Maybe the mods should create and pin a post. Then allow readers to fill in their thoughts on each issue.

Shout out to the Honolulu Star Advertiser delivery driver that got our Sunday edition to our doorstep at around 4:00am in this weather.

Fortunately, the Sunday edition has the lowest chance of blowing away. Also, the throw from their vehicle tucked it right up against the side of the house, it hardly got wet.

I've seen this topic discussed here quite often. And this video seems to be a great source of information on how the Jones Act works, as well as why we have not noticed any benefit by the current waiver being applied. It's lengthy, but worth it for people who wish to understand the topic completely.

In addition to the video being a great source of information, for the most part, the comments section has thoughtful discussion and additional information.

I'm sure the Mods will remove this if it is too off topic.

The Hawaii Career Expo scheduled for Wednesday at the Neal Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall will feature many of the state’s top employers seeking the best candidates for open positions.

The free event, sponsored by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and presented by Star Events, is open to all job-seekers, who will get the opportunity to meet hiring managers from a variety of companies, as well as military and government departments, at over 100 booths.
