What is your family's personal Shavuos Dairy Custom?

Do you have at least one full dairy meal or do you just make a dairy kiddush then move on to fleishigs? If you have a dairy meal do you have a specific meal that you typically designate as dairy? Like first night dinner or second night lunch? If you do a dairy kiddush do you do that both days or just first days? Does anyone have BOTH a dairy meal the first night then a dairy kiddush followed by a fleishig meal for lunch the next day?

Bands with a Similar Songwriting Dynamic to Genesis

So there were bands like The Who in which there was a main principle songwriting and the lead singer wrote pretty much NONE of the lyrics,

Bands like Deep Purple and Led Zepplin in which the singer wrote almost all of the lyrics

Bands like The Beatles and Kiss in which there were multiple singers and generally whoever wrote the song sang it.

How many bands were there like Genesis in which both they lead singer AND other members wrote lyrics? The one that comes to mind is Queen but I'm not not thinking of any others immediately. Maybe Mike Mills in REM wrote some?

I feel like in the 80's and 90s Cinco De Mayo was way more culturally prevalent Restaurants and bars running specials. People literally talking about "what are you doing for Cinco de Mayo? Even people who typically didn't drink that often having a Mexican at least. I mentioned it to younger co-workers and they barely knew what I was talking about. A few of them had heard the term but didn't really associate it with anything. .

So these are all of the customs that I am aware of regarding Pesach Sheni and Tachanun.

  1. Say Tachanun. This is the Old German minhag and I believe still practiced in Washington Heights.

  2. Only skip Tachanun at Mincha on Pesach Sheni. It is said at Shacharis. This is the Oberlander/Non Chasidic Hungarian custom. I once went to a shul in NY that had this custom

  3. Don't say Tachanun on Pesach Sheni but DO say it at Mincha on the 13th of Iyar. This is seems to be what a majority of Ashkenaz shuls follow

  4. Don't say tachanun on on Pesach Sheni OR at mincha on the 13th. Followed by Ashkenaz shuls that have a strong Chasidish influence and also done by some of the those few Chasidish shuls that don't regularly exclude Tachanun from Mincha.

  5. Don't say tachanun on the 14 or 15 of Iyar and also not at mincha on the 13th.

  6. The weirdest one: don't say tachanun from 14-20 of Iyar. Obviously also not at mincha the 13th, but I'd be willing to bet if there are any shuls that follow this custom they never say tachanun at mincha anyway.

Where I live the oldest kosher establishment still around opened around 1984 or 85.

There was a place that had been open since the late 50s or early 60s but it closed about 17 years ago.

I'm curious if the show towned down the Boston aspect of the show in order to make it more accessible? None of the characters have a New England accent other than Cliff. Other than the Redox there is very little local Boston stuff or culture mentioned. They almost never use Boston slang or talk about New England cuisine etc.

"Rapper's Delight" by The Sugar Hill Gang came out in 1979 when I was six years old. I never heard the song or had any idea it existed until I saw it on Yo! MTV Raps in 1988 or 89.

Anyone else have any similar situations? Major songs that passed you by for many years?

Is this a nationwide thing or is just in my community that Smore's are huge part of Lag B'Omer?

My kids legit thought that Smore's are Jewish food and that non Jews didn't know about them.
