Stepping down as mod

When I was first invited to the team here, there was maybe 6K subs here and only one other moderator. He left after I had been on board for a while and I ran solo for several years. Since then, we've really continued a growth spurt. I've enjoyed seeing new generations find this show, reading their take on such a classic, the inquisitiveness about the characters, the era, it's a fun discussion to experience. The endless repartee amongst those of us who watched every single episode of the original run, lobbing out the most obscure quote you can think of just to see if you find "your people" within the community.

This place mirrors the show in the sense that we want a place to get away. It's always been the goal of r/Cheers to not devolve into negative behavior and become just another toxic area of reddit. The folks that created this place and ran it long before, had that same intent, as does the team now, as will the next ones that come along. I'll still be a member of the community, as Cheers never leaves you. And as for our generation's version of Ginger or Mary Ann, allow to firmly plant the Camp Diane flag before I go :-)

All this time I never noticed the 2 relief Cheers bartenders in Bar Wars 2.

One of them must be "Bob".

Just watched the finale

Dejaview just aired the finale.

"I'm the luckiest son of a bitch in the world." Yup!

"Sorry, we're closed." Tear in my eye, all throughout the series it's never closed. Could always walk in.

Tomorrow restarts from the pilot. Yay! "How about a beer, chief?"...

Snipe Hunt

On the episode "The Heart Is a Lonely Snipehunter", they take Frasier out into the woods to hunt snipe as a practical joke, and say that no such thing exists,

Today I learned there IS such a thing as a snipe. It's a shorebird!

The moment Cheers became more than just another sitcom

The ability to go into character drama and make it fully believable and then still pay it off comedically was top notch stuff

One Man Warren Commision

I have a question: I swear in the finale at the dinner scene at Melville's, Sam says "one man warren commission" to Diane, but it doesn't match his lips - the line looks ADR'ed, and I'm dying to know what the original line was. Am I crazy?

OK I'm trying to get into Cheers after loving Frasier — Is there anyone else who struggled at first ?

I'm a huge fan of Frasier And probably first of my favorite shows ever. And I finally decided to start watching cheers because I wanted more Frasier content and to see where the character started.

The weird thing is that I like the show but for some weird reason I can't get fully into it yet I don't know if it's the pacing the bar setting or the early 80s sitcom style but it isn't clicking with me the same way Frasier did immediately.

Did anyone else feel this way at first?. Does Cheers get stronger after a certain season or character addition? And for the people who 1st watched Frasier 1st what really helped you "click" with Cheers?

Norm's Big Audit

Last night they aired this episode. Norm gets audited by that scary woman... Dot Carroll played by Sharon Barr.

Loved her line "When I say go, tear off all my clothes as fast as you can. And you can't use you hands."

Have a good life

My fiance and I are watching for the first time and we just finished season 5. A family member spoiled it for me that this was her final season, so we've been watching it knowing that the wedding likely wouldn't happen. But wow, what a great way to end it. My fiance started crying. I can't believe a 40 year old show holds up so well. We're about to start season 6.

Diane’s Perfect Date

I just wanted to take a quick moment and talk about my love for the Cheers season 1 episode, “Diane’s Perfect Date.”

I saw it for the first time this week, and I thought it was timeless. For me, comedy is great when it comes from a misunderstanding between characters, and this is the height of exactly that.

The actors were just so great at hitting the beats, and of course Coach was better than ever.

It’s my fav so far. Thanks for letting me share. “Jeanettecist”
