When people act like it’s socially acceptable to make jokes about your weight if you’re underweight

I’m a 28 year old man and I have been skinny my entire life. I was always very self conscious about my appearance. I still am a little but mostly I can put it out of my mind.

Now most decent human beings would never think about making a joke about someone’s appearance if that person is overweight. But why on earth do people think it’s okay to come up to me and say thinks like “dear god you’re skinny” or “better put some rocks in your pockets you’ll fly away”. They’re not even comments of concern (which my weight is none of their business anyway) they’re just being dicks.

By the way I want to make it clear I’m not saying that it’s okay to make jokes about someone’s weight if they’re overweight either

Waterpark Simulator on Xbox graphics

I’m genuinely enjoying the game and I completely understand there’s issues with a port/new release. My game seems to be having no issues except for issues with graphics. No graphics settings is killing me a little

Question for ex smokers

I have listened to Allen Carr’s audiobooks (the original and the bootcamp version) and I tried the QuitSure app. The main point these try to get across is that be a happy non smoker you have to remove your desire to smoke. I have not been able to do this for more than a day at the most. I may go most of the day not wanting a cigarette but at some point that always changes. I feel convinced I won’t be able to remove the desire to smoke.

So my question is this; will the cravings ever go away after quitting even if I can’t remove my desire to smoke? I’ve known three ex smokers all of whom quit over 15 years ago. And all three have told me that they still crave cigarettes. This scares me and kills my motivation. I feel like even if I successfully quit I’ll spend the rest of my non smoking life feeling deprived and craving

P.S. I have tried NRT and I swear it only makes me want a cigarette more. The gum even makes me feel sick

I’m absolutely terrified

Hello all, I hope everyone out there is doing well! I’m posting here because I may be starting my new life soon living out of my car. It’s not absolutely guaranteed yet that I’ll have to but it’s looking more and more likely. In a small way I’m almost feeling excited about it. A sense of freedom I’ve never had. But mostly I’m just scared. I’m afraid of my stomach problems flaring up, needing a bathroom in the middle of the night, being vulnerable sleeping in my car, not having anywhere to cook nutritious meals, living a deprived life that will worsen my depression, etc. I could go on and on. Does anyone have words of encouragement? Can someone tell me I’m not going to hate every second of it? Just feeling very anxious

I want to quit but maybe I don’t want it enough?

I’m 27 years old, I don’t consider myself a heavy smoker. I’ve been smoking for about 10 years and over the past two years I’ve smoked about half a pack a day on average. I’m getting the feeling again that I want to quit. I’ve tried before and the longest I ever made it was 7 days and only because I was so sick I couldn’t get up to smoke.

I’m getting so tired of blowing my money, stinking like smoke, being unhealthy, and being a slave to the little devils in my pocket. But I just can’t seem to do it. Every time I quit I have motivation for a day or two at the most, and then I just say screw it I don’t really want to quit that bad.

I don’t like the idea of using medication or patches so last year I got Alan Carr’s book. It helped for a little but I still felt like I had to force myself with every fiber of my being to not smoke. Not to mention the intense brain fog and disassociation I felt every day of not smoking made it impossible to work.

How do you keep yourself motivated? Not just through the withdrawal symptoms but just in general? I don’t want to do this anymore
