Final episode question

On the very last episode, as Rebecca leaves for her honeymoon with her new plumber husband, Sam says, “See ya, Trixie.” What did that mean?

Considering Saatva Classic Firm as a midweight back and side sleeper

I bought a Tempur-pedic Pro-adapt Medium Hybrid XL twin in January of this year and I’m planning to return it. Even though it’s advertised as firmer than the straight Tempur-pedic Pro-adapt Medium (which my husband got, so we can compare them side by side), my mattress got too soft and started to hurt my lower back.

There’s a Saatva showroom nearby, so I went and tried their coil-based mattresses. To my surprise, the Classic Firm felt the best to me because of its firm lower back support, and it was also comfortable for the short time I lay on my side. I also tried the medium firm which was a touch too soft under my butt, and the Rx, which at first seemed too soft all around but after a while i came around to thinking it was comfortable.

Their return policy is good, so I am strongly considering buying a Classic Firm (11.5” height) to use on my Tempur Ergo adjustable base.

I’m 5’1” 145 pounds with back and hip problems, so a firm mattress doesn’t seem like the logical choice. I’d like to know if anyone out there, especially with similar body “density” to mine, owns the Classic Firm and how you find it long term for side sleeping.

Met a BE owner who loves the ventilated seats but hates the in-bed trunk

So this was a surprise. I am probably going to buy a Ridgeline, but rarely see one in the wild. Today a guy happened to park his fairly new Black Edition on my street while I was outside, so I immediately started asking him how he liked it.

He was very enthusiastic about the vehicle, but two things surprised me. First, he said he had traded in another Ridgeline for the BE just to get the ventilated seats, which he raved about. He said he had recently driven to Montana and back (with the bed loaded "beyond capacity, and it did great,") and that I shouldn't consider any other trimline because the ventilated seats are so necessary on a hot day. (He especially said I shouldn't consider any vehicle with leather seats unless they were ventilated or cooled.)

He brought up the Toyota Tacoma in comparison, and said that the Ridgeline is so much more comfortable to drive that it doesn't compare ("as long as you're not taking it offroad") .

He also showed off how he keeps a ton of stuff behind the front seats, including a giant cooler that he can load up with ice so he can keep groceries cold all day while he does other errands.

But on the other hand, spontaneously, he mentioned that one thing he hates is the in-bed trunk! The trunk that everyone here loves and finds so useful! His main reason was that if you carry anything like soil or mulch in the bed and then open the trunk while there's any residue in the bed, all that gunks gets into the seams and fall into the trunk and on anything stored there. This caught my attention because mulch and potted plants are two things I will likely be carrying the most. He also said that he hated that the spare is (by default) in the trunk, so if you're driving with the bed loaded up and you get a flat, you're in deep s**t, or at least at great inconvenience.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting that he was so positive about the vehicle but had contrarian views on two things that come up here a lot.

How do you like the Trailsport’s ride on the highway?

I’m probably going to buy either a Trailsport or a Black Edition. The only reason I’m considering the Trailsport is for the Ash Green color. I don’t plan on taking my vehicle off road.

I know there’s about a one MPH trade-off in mileage. I test drove a Trailsport and noticed the sound on acceleration. I’m wondering if road noise would be too noticeable if I were taking a long highway drive. If you have one, how do you feel about the noise level?

Looking for solar fountain insert recommendations

I’ve been using a large ceramic tray as a birdbath for my backyard birds and I put in one of those solar powered plastic discs that sprays water in order to both attract birds and keep mosquitoes from hatching. Two problems: first, it stops working as soon as it’s in any kind of shade and second, now it’s stopped working altogether!

I’d like to replace this one with another insert that has a battery backup, but I find the choices on Amazon kind of overwhelming. I’d like to know if anyone has found a good solution without needing an electrical outlet. I don’t mind if it stops working at night, but I’d like it to have enough of a battery back up to work throughout the day, even if it gets cloudy.

Honda Ridgeline owners, does it satisfy the itch for a pickup?

I’m female and, 5 foot 1, and old enough for Medicare. I have long wanted a pickup truck, mostly to haul garden supplies, mulch, and plants, maybe some small furniture. I’m not going to be pulling a trailer or taking it off road.

I want something very reliable and comfortable, with a double cab.

I’ve narrowed my choices down to Toyota Tacoma TRD sport or Limited, or Honda Ridgeline. Haven’t driven either yet. The Honda is much easier to get into and I imagine will be more car-like to drive. But its bed is not as tall and I am concerned it won’t be good for carrying bulk things like mulch and rocks.

If you own a Ridgeline, based on what I’ve said, would you recommend one for me?

Will this finch ever outgrow this feather abnormality?

I’ve been catching photos of this house finch with the raised feather off and on since she was a fledgling (I assume it’s the same bird). At first, I thought it was just a part of her feathers growing in and would straighten out in time, but it’s been more than a month. Obviously she’s doing OK, but will this be a permanent condition? Will it affect her in the future?

I bought a Birdbuddy Pro camera, so is there anything useful I can do with my old Nature Cam? I tried binding it to a pole with rubber bands to watch another feeder, but it wasn’t a successful attempt. I hate to just discard it.
