Is anyone else surprised that Homelander didn't "fall in love" with Sage?

Homelander is extremely needy and always seeks to get involved with the women around him. This is how he ended up with Maeve and Stormfront, but when they disappeared, he showed interest in getting involved with Starlight after becoming desperate with the whole situation involving Soldier Boy(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSx2Pniwjvg). However, he never showed any interest in Sage, even though she served as emotional support for him and is a young and beautiful woman.

Why is Stormfront so important right now?

I understand that she will be important in Vought Rising, but I don't understand why they chose to treat her as the main romantic interest of several characters when she is much more interesting as a diabolical villain.

Soldier Boy only mentioned her once in the third season, and that was as Liberty, her former superhero name. But out of nowhere, he started calling her by her real name, "Clara," and getting teary-eyed when talking about her as if she were the love of his life, when in the third season she was just a casual sexual partner and the love of his life was Crimson Countless.

Homelander became obsessed with Maeve again after Stormfront's death and even considered getting involved with Starlight after being terrified by Soldier Boy, but suddenly Stormfront became the love of his life and he also started calling her Clara, which doesn't make sense, since he's a supe supremacist and almost always calls supes by their hero names. Even Bombsight, who seemed like a nice guy, spoke fondly of Stormfront in the last episode.

Isn't Maeve a little underrated considering she temporarily knocked out Homelander and then speed-blitzed Soldier Boy?

She also sent Homelander flying with a single punch, withstood his laser vision without visible injuries—something even a v1 super like Stormfront couldn't do—and speaking of which, she also beat Stormfront and was easily winning even before Kimiko and Annie kicked each other, in addition to knocking out Black Noir and stopping an armored truck with ease.

Unpopular Opinion: Homelander shouldn't die

Homelander is unhappy and will remain unhappy even if he achieves everything he desires in the end, so for him, death would actually be an interruption of that suffering. The best ending for the character would be him losing his own powers and the admiration of everyone in the world. If Homelander ended up imprisoned or being humiliated by another super like The Deep, he would feel much worse.

I know many people don't like this because they think it leaves room for a continuation, but let's be frank, if they really want to make another season of The Boys in the future, they will do it anyway.

And it took just him the entire season to figure that out

The characters' reasoning abilities are awful this season. Sage had far more resources at her disposal than Frederick Vought, the current Compound V formula and the Compound V1 in Soldier Boy's blood, plus she was exponentially more intelligent than him, so it was obvious from the start that she could easily make more V1 if she wanted to, and yet Homelander took several weeks to realize it.
