The Columbia Borough Council meeting is tomorrow at 7:00pm at Borough Hall, 308 Locust Street.
Council members will be voting on an ordinance to regulate data centers.
Eric Kauffman (council prez) will TURN PEOPLE AWAY AFTER THEY COUNT 48 BODIES. He knows the high school auditorium is available, but says it will “cost too much”.

The second annual Juneteenth Community BBQ is coming up on June 17 from 6–8 PM at Lancaster Distilleries in Columbia.
This event is free and open to everyone. If you'd like to help support the costs of putting it together, you can make a contribution here. We'll have great food trucks, live music, and inspiring speakers as we come together to celebrate freedom, resilience, and community.

Q: Why are we even celebrating Juneteenth two years later?
A: Juneteenth marks the OFFICIAL end of slavery in the United States. It is when the last enslaved people in Texas were finally freed.
Q: Well, why did it take so long? And why Texas?
A: The Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863, but it only applied to Confederate states and they weren’t really interested in enforcing it. Texas was actually one of the last holdouts.
It took Union troops TWO YEARS to arrive in Galveston and uphold the law, making Juneteenth a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing fight for justice we still see today…
